Thrombus aspiration in STEMI: Whom we aspire it may help?
Routine manual thrombus aspiration before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a simple, rapid, and inexpensive method to prevent microvascular obstruction (MVO) post PCI [1]. Although the TAPAS study initially indicated a clinical benefit for patients who underwent thrombus aspiration before PCI compared to PCI only, later studies and meta-analyses did not show improved clinical outcomes after thrombus aspiration [2 –4]. Beside the absence of clinical benefit, safety issues have been also raised, as patients who underwent thrombus aspiration had ...

Editorial for manuscript “Screening for and prevalence of anxiety and depression in cardiac rehabilitation in the post-COVIID era. An observational study”
A number of psychosocial characteristics are shown to be independent risk factors for development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), cardiovascular events and death [1]. Among psychosocial risk factors of CVD anxiety and depression have a special importance. (Source: International Journal of Cardiology)

Prolonged delirium during hospitalization is associated with worse long-term and short-term outcomes in patients with acute heart failure
The association between prolonged delirium during hospitalization and long-term prognosis in patients with acute heart failure (AHF) admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) has not been fully elucidated. (Source: International Journal of Cardiology)

Diagnostic performance of ultrasonic flow ratio versus quantitative flow ratio for assessment of coronary stenosis
Ultrasonic flow ratio (UFR) is a novel intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-derived modality for fast computation of fractional flow reserve (FFR) without pressure wires and adenosine. (Source: International Journal of Cardiology)

Mitral valve gradient changes associate with outcomes of patients undergoing transcatheter edge-to-edge repair
Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is typically used to treat mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with high surgical risk. Increased post-procedural mitral valve gradient (MVG) may impact mortality and hospitalizations. We aim to evaluate and compare the absolute postprocedural MVG and the change in the MVG effect on outcomes for patients undergoing TEER therapy. (Source: International Journal of Cardiology)

Comparative analysis of different risk prediction tools after mitral Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair
The objective of this study was to compare the accuracy of different risk scores for predicting 1-year mortality and the composite endpoint of 1-year mortality and/or heart failure (HF) hospitalization after TEER. (Source: International Journal of Cardiology)

Thin aortic arch plaque is associated with the development of atrial fibrillation for embolic stroke of undetermined source in patients with an insertable cardiac monitor
This study's objective is to investigate whether mild aortic arch plaque is associated with the development of atrial fibrillation (AF) in stroke patients with embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS) during the first year following the implantation of an insertable cardiac monitor (ICM). Lactate load in acute myocardial infarction: Old but gold?
Healthcare systems have recognized and understood the improvements granted by early recognition of dangerous courses in diseases often encountered in the general population and with a possible volatile development. For these diseases, searching for the one accurate biomarker to predict an adverse outcome might revolutionize diagnosis and treatment and represent a tip of current clinical research. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI), a condition where the myocardium is deprived of perfusion and oxygen supply, is often encountered in older individuals and is one of the main reasons for death worldwide. Myocardial work and left heart deformation parameters across primary mitral regurgitation severity
Myocardial work (MW) estimation by pressure-strain loops using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) has shown to evaluate left ventricular (LV) contraction overcoming the load-dependency limit of LV global longitudinal strain (GLS). This has proved useful hemodynamic variation settings e.g. heart failure and valvular heart disease. However, the variation of MW and strain parameters across different stages of primary mitral regurgitation (MR) and its impact on symptoms, which was the aim of our study, has never been investigated.
