The role of circulating biomarkers in predicting the 30-day mortality of immune checkpoint inhibitors-related myocarditis: a retrospective cohort study
This study aims to find circulating biomarkers that can reflect disease state and prognosis accurately. 48 patients with ICIs-M were enrolled according to the diagnostic criteria for ICIs-related myocarditis. For all enrolled patients, valuable information was extracted retrospectively from the medical system, mainly including demographic information, tumor information and laboratory examination. The follow-up period was defined as 30  days after the first diagnosis of ICIs-M. In this study, the 30-day mortality rate of ICIs-M was 24.4%. After adjusting for potential confounding factors using multivariate analysis tools, ...

Clinical characteristics of survivors versus non-survivors after acute diquat poisoning: a comparative study
AbstractThe aim of this study was to compare the clinical characteristics between survivors and non-survivors after acute diquat (DQ) poisoning. Patients treated in the Emergency Department of Fu Yang People ’s Hospital for DQ poisoning between January 2018 and February 2022 were enrolled in this retrospective comparative study. A total of 65 patients were collected, including 36 males (55.4%) and 29 females (44.6%). There were 34 survivors (52.3%), and 31 non-survivors (47.7%). Patients in the non-su rvivor group were significantly older (P = 0.003), received a higher dose of DQ before admission (P <  0.001),...

Overcrowding in emergency departments: an overview of reviews describing global solutions and their outcomes
AbstractEmergency Department (ED) crowding is defined as a situation wherein the demands of emergency services overcome the ability of a department to provide high-quality care within an appropriate time frame. There is a need for solutions, as the harms of crowding impact patients, staff, and healthcare spending. An overview of ED crowding was previously published by our group, which outlines these global issues. The problem of overcrowding in emergency departments has emerged as a global public health concern, and several healthcare agencies have addressed the issue and proposed possible solutions at each level of emerge...

Evaluation of point-of-care ultrasound use in the diagnostic approach for right upper quadrant abdominal pain management in the emergency department: a prospective study
AbstractPoint-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS) is commonly used at the bedside in the emergency department (ED) as part of clinical examinations. Studies frequently investigate PoCUS diagnostic accuracy, although its contribution to the overall diagnostic approach is less often evaluated. The primary objective of this prospective, multicenter, cohort study was to assess the contribution of PoCUS to the overall diagnostic approach of patients with right upper quadrant abdominal pain. Two independent members of an adjudication committee, who were blind to the intervention, independently evaluated the diagnostic approaches before a...

The combined effects of arteriosclerosis and diabetes on cardiovascular disease risk
In this study, people who participated in brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) testing and the annual physical examination of the Kailuan Group Finance Co., Ltd., from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2020, were selected, and their anthropometric, biochemical and epidemiological data were collected. The participants were divided into four groups according to diabetes and arteriosclerosis diagnosis and follow-up. Cox proportional hazards regression and subdistribution hazard models were used to analyse the combined effects of arteriosclerosis and diabetes on CVDs. Multiple sensitivity analyses were also performed. A t...
