National burden of hospitalized and non ‐hospitalized influenza‐associated severe acute respiratory illness in Kenya, 2012‐2014
ConclusionsThe highest burden of disease was observed among children <2 years of age. This highlights the need for strategies to prevent influenza infections in this age group. (Source: Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses)

The national burden of influenza ‐associated severe acute respiratory illness hospitalization in Zambia, 2011‐2014
ConclusionsThe burden of influenza‐associated SARI hospitalizations was substantial and was highest among children aged <5 years. (Source: Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses)

Burden of influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, and other respiratory viruses and the completeness of respiratory viral identification among respiratory inpatients, Canada, 2003 ‐2014
ConclusionsHospitalization rates with respiratory viral identification still underestimate the burden. Approaches based on acute respiratory case definitions will likely underestimate the burden as well, although each proposed method should be compared with regression‐based estimates of influenza‐attributed burden as a way of assessing their validity. Estimated incidence of influenza ‐associated severe acute respiratory infections in Indonesia, 2013‐2016
ConclusionsIncidence rates of influenza‐associated SARI in these districts indicate a substantial burden of influenza hospitalizations in young children in Indonesia. Further studies are needed to examine the influenza burden in other potential risk groups such as pregnant women and the elderly. (Source: Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses)
