The Impact of Tumor-Associated Macrophages Found at Mammary Carcinoma Sites is Dependent Upon the Tumor Type
CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, these data demonstrate that targeting TAM or metabolism at early tumor sites can impact tumor progression. However, variability in the responses underscore the fact that the impact of macrophages differs even within three different syngeneic mammary carcinoma models.PMID:37647339 | DOI:10.1080/08820139.2023.2252463 (Source: Immunological Investigations)

Elevated Layilin-Positive Monocyte Levels in the Peripheral Blood of Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Reflect Their Autoimmune Status
CONCLUSION: LAYN is differentially expressed in monocytes and their subpopulations and has corresponding functional differences. Changes in LAYN expression on monocytes are associated with complement C4 levels in SLE patients. These suggest that LAYN may be involved in the pathogenesis of SLE.ABBREVIATION: ANOVA: analysis of variance; anti-dsDNA: anti-double-stranded DNA; anti-ENA: anti-extractable nuclear antigen; anti-SSA: anti-Sjogren syndrome A; anti-SSB: anti-Sjogren syndrome B; anti-U1RNP: anti-U1 ribonucleoprotein; AUC: area under the ROC curve; CBC: complete blood count; CD62L: L-selectin; CD74/Ii: MHC class II inv...

The Multifunction Role of Tumor-Associated Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Their Interaction with Immune Cells in Breast Cancer
Immunol Invest. 2023 Aug 24:1-23. doi: 10.1080/08820139.2023.2249025. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a heterogeneous group of progenitor cells that play a multifunctional role including tissue regeneration, self-renewal properties, and differentiate into cells of mesodermal lineage such as adipocytes, osteoblasts, and chondrocytes. MSCs come into contact with tumor microenvironment (TME) and differentiate into tumor-associated MSCs (TA-MSCs). Various substances such as chemokines, cytokines, growth factors, and others are released by tumor cells to recruit MSCs. TA-MSCs induced epithelial-m...
