Motivation for becoming a paid caregiver for older people: a case study in Phuket Province, Thailand
This study aimed to explore the motivations, attitudes, care management strategies and training needs of paid caregivers. Data were collected through 51 semi-structured interviews with paid caregivers and analyzed using thematic analysis. Their motivations included economic stability, the inability to secure other employment, a desire to secure independence through regularly paid employment and a passion and a love of caring.
