A Multicenter Pilot Survey to Clarify the Clinical Features of Patients with Acute ‐On‐Chronic Liver Failure in Japan
ConclusionThe APASL definition was suitable for screening Japanese patients with ACLF including those whose conditions were triggered by gastrointestinal bleeding, while the EASL‐Clif Consortium criteria were useful for predicting outcome. (Source: Hepatology Research)

Usefulness of virtual touch quantification for staging liver fibrosis in patients with hepatitis C, and factors affecting liver stiffness measurement failure compared with liver biopsy
ConclusionsVirtual touch quantification is a non‐invasive, simple method that is more accurate for staging liver fibrosis than the FIB‐4 index and APRI. However, when the SCD is longer than 17.5 mm, there may be measurement failures. (Source: Hepatology Research)

Intra ‐Hepatic Bile Duct Primary Cilia In Biliary Atresia
ConclusionsThe presence of IHBC in BA livers at the diagnosis was associated with resolution of cholestasis although was not predictive of short‐term survival with native liver. SEM represents a powerful new tool to study routine liver biopsies in biliary disorders. Cilia dysfunction in BA pathogenesis and/or disease progression warrants further investigation.
