New variation of median arcuate ligament compression causing hepatic arterial hypoperfusion during liver transplantation
We present a case where there was ligamentous compression of the coeliac artery at the origin of the splenic. The arterial flow after anastomosis was poor and division of the ligament immediately improved flow at the anastomosis. The patient had a normal post operative course. Awareness of the possibility of these rare anatomical distortions is essential in order to make the appropriate intraoperative decision for better outcome. Different characteristics of chronic dibutyltin dichloride-induced pancreatitis and cholangitis in mouse and rat
CONCLUSIONSThe DBTC-model cannot be transferred from rats to C57BL/6 mice with respect to chronic DBTC-pancreatitis, but might be of interest to study DBTC-cholangitis in both species. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Predicting common bile duct stones by non-invasive parameters
ConclusionsWe suggest this score as a very strong predictor for CBD stones, and to reduce the strength of total bilirubin and transaminases as predictors. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Bile-derived circulating extracellular miR-30d-5p and miR-92a-3p as potential biomarkers for cholangiocarcinoma
ConclusionsThe levels of extracellular miR-30d-5p and miR-92a-3p in bile were significantly higher in patients with CCA than those in patients with BBD. Bile-derived circulating extracellular miR-30d-5p and miR-92a-3p are potential biomarkers for discriminating CCA from BBD.Graphical abstract (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Assessment of biological functions for C3A cells interacting with adverse environments of liver failure plasma
ConclusionsC3A cells cultured with acute liver failure plasma showed mild inhibition of cell viabilities, reduction of albumin secretion, and increase of ammonia accumulation. Furthermore, CYP450 enzymes demonstrated various alterations on gene transcription, protein expression and enzyme activities. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Statins decrease the risk of acute pancreatitis after endoscopic ultrasound fine-needle aspiration of pancreatic cysts
ConclusionsStatins exert a beneficial role in preventing acute pancreatitis in patients with pancreatic cysts undergoing endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration. If confirmed in prospective trials, our findings may pave the way to an extensive use of statins as prophylactic agents in pancreatic interventional endoscopy.
