Cholecystoenteric fistula with and without gallstone ileus: A case series: Cholecystoenteric fistula
ConclusionsThere is no consensus on the best treatment modality for a CEF, as the treatment outcome is mostly dependent on the surgeon's expertise and the patient's condition. Not all CEFs are accompanied by gallstone ileus. For such case, the main purpose is to resolve the intestinal obstruction and, unless necessary, avoidance of the gallbladder area. Impact of EBV infection and immune function assay for lymphoproliferative disorder in pediatric patients after liver transplantation: A single center experience: Impacts of PTLD after child liver Tx
ConclusionsA careful monitoring of EBV DNA loads and tacrolimus concentration might be supportive in prevention of PTLD in pediatric patients after liver transplantation. In addition, application of the ImmuKnow assay may provide guidance in reducing immunosuppressive agents in treatment of PTLD. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Increased syndecan-1 and glypican-3 predict poor perinatal outcome and treatment resistance in intrahepatic cholestasis: Syndecan-1, glypican-3 and ICP
ConclusionSyndecan-1 and glypican-3 might be powerful determinants in predicting adverse perinatal outcome in patients with ICP, and they can be used to predict the response to the UDCA treatment. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Oxytocin and oxytocin receptor alterations, decreased survival, and increased chemoresistance in patients with pancreatic cancer
ConclusionsThese data suggest that OXT and OXTR may potentially be important in PC progression, chemoresistance, and patient survival, and potentially could have prognostic and therapeutic implications in a subset of PC patients. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)

Higher body mass index deteriorates postoperative outcomes of pancreaticoduodenectomy
ConclusionsHigher BMI results in higher morbidity of Chinese patients undergoing open pancreaticoduodenectomy. Pancreaticoduodenectomy is still a safe surgery procedure for overweight and obese patients, with intensive perioperative management. (Source: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International)
