N-Terminal Pro B-Type Natriuretic Peptide as a Screening Tool for Inpatient Echocardiogram Requirement Among Patients With Suspected Heart Failure: Using NT-proBNP to Reduce Hospital Length of Stay
N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a cardiac biomarker with diagnostic and prognostic utility in patients with heart failure (HF). Whether NT-proBNP can be used to triage inpatient transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) requirements, and whether this impacts hospital length of stay (LOS), is not clear. Burden of Hypertensive Heart Disease and High Systolic Blood Pressure in Australia from 1990 to 2019: Results From the Global Burden of Diseases Study
There is a dearth of comprehensive studies examining the burden and trends of hypertensive heart disease (HHD) and high systolic blood pressure (SBP) among the Australian population. We aimed to explore the burden of HHD and high SBP, and how they changed over time from 1990 to  2019 in Australia. (Source: Heart, Lung and Circulation)

Association Between Calcium Supplementation and the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke: A  Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Some observational studies and randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have reported an association between calcium supplementation and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Previous meta-analyses on the topic, based on data from RCTs and observational studies, have contradictory findings. This meta-analysis was conducted to determine the difference in associated risks of calcium supplementation with cardiovascular disease and stroke in RCTs. (Source: Heart, Lung and Circulation)

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery After Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients With ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Meta-analysis of the Current Research on the Relationship Between Blood Lipid Levels and the Occurrence of Atrial Fibrillation
There is still debate in the literature about the relationship between lipid profile and the occurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF). In order to assess the association between blood lipid profiles and incidence of AF, this review was conducted to perform a meta-analysis of all available studies. Effect of Antecedent Hypertension on Mortality After Acute Coronary Syndromes in the Coronary Intervention Era: A Meta-analysis
The effect of antecedent hypertension on mortality after acute coronary syndromes (ACS) in the percutaneous coronary intervention era is unclear. Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to assess the effect of antecedent hypertension on short-term and long-term mortality after ACS in the coronary intervention era. It ’s Time to Get a Wiggle on and Improve Automated External Defibrillator Signage Across the Nation
One in every 1,000 Australians will experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year [1]. Successful resuscitation and patient survival in this time-sensitive and life-threatening emergency is heavily dependent on time to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation. Defibrillation is achieved with an automated electronic defibrillator (AED), a piece of lifesaving equipment. When used by a bystander within the first 3 –5 minutes of a cardiac arrest, survival rates can be as high as 75% [2]. (Source: Heart, Lung and Circulation)

Comment on: Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Heart Failure Treatment: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
We read with great interest the systematic review and meta-analysis by Kalou et  al. [1], published in this Journal, evaluating bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) for heart failure treatment through a systematic review and meta-analysis by pooling six randomised clinical trials. The authors draw the conclusion that BM-MSCs treatment is an effective intervention for m anaging patients with heart failure, but requires larger and more robust clinical trials to support its routine use in clinics. Response to Letter to the Editor: Comment on Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Heart Failure Treatment: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
We thank Sun and Gu [1] (this issue) for their interest in our recently published manuscript entitled “Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells (BM-MSCs) for Heart Failure Treatment: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” [2]. While commending the clinical significance of our findings vis-a-vis the effectiveness of BM-MSCs in treating heart failure patients, using left ventricular ejection fraction (L VEF) and six-minute walk distance (6MWD) as primary endpoints, the authors have extended a couple of queries which warrant our response. Decrement Evoked Potential (DEEP) Mapping of the Atria: Unmasking Atrial Fibrillation Substrate
Atrial myopathy may underlie the progression of atrial fibrillation (AF) from a treatable disease to an irreversible condition with poor ablation outcomes. Electrophysiological methods to unmask areas prone to re-entry initiation could be key to defining latent atrial myopathy. (Source: Heart, Lung and Circulation)
