OnabotulinumtoxinA as a promising treatment for primary trochlear headache: A retrospective case series
CONCLUSIONS: Our case series presents the first evidence of the potential of BoNTA as a safe and effective treatment option for PRTH. From a clinical standpoint, having a safer alternative is of paramount significance for patients with limited treatment options, such as those with PRTH. Further research is warranted to validate these findings and explore the long-term efficacy of BoNTA in PRTH management.PMID:38533675 | DOI:10.1111/head.14699 (Source: Headache)

Impact of headache frequency and preventive treatment failure on quality of life, disability, and direct and indirect costs among individuals with episodic migraine in the United States
CONCLUSIONS: In this NHWS analysis, individuals with more prior preventive TFs experienced significantly higher humanistic and economic burden regardless of HF.PMID:38523435 | DOI:10.1111/head.14684 (Source: Headache)

Advocacy Connection Team-Now educational program for headache fellows and patients/caregivers: Assessment of educational objectives
CONCLUSION: These results demonstrate that ACT-Now is effective at improving advocacy skills in a mixed cohort of patients and headache fellows, giving them the skills to create advocacy plans and engage with other patients and physicians, payers, and policymakers to create a more understanding, equitable and compassionate world for persons with migraine and other headache diseases.PMID:38523478 | DOI:10.1111/head.14705 (Source: Headache)

A large language model-based generative natural language processing framework fine-tuned on clinical notes accurately extracts headache frequency from electronic health records
CONCLUSION: We developed a robust information extraction model based on a state-of-the-art large language model, a GPT-2 generative model that can extract headache frequency from EHR free-text clinical notes with high accuracy and R2 score. It overcame several challenges related to different ways clinicians document headache frequency that were not easily achieved by traditional NLP models. We also showed that GPT-2-based frameworks outperformed ClinicalBERT in terms of accuracy in extracting headache frequency from clinical notes. To facilitate research in the field, we released the GPT-2 generative model and inference co...

Impact of Ramadan fasting on vision and headache-related quality of life in women with idiopathic intracranial hypertension: A prospective observational study
CONCLUSION: Ramadan fasting had an aggravating effect on headache, visual symptoms, and related quality-of-life activities, which might be attributed to weight gain during this month. Whether proper nutritional management to prevent weight gain during Ramadan may help mitigate this worsening effect is a mission of future studies.PMID:38525797 | DOI:10.1111/head.14707 (Source: Headache)

Neuralgia in the occipital region associated with ipsilateral trigeminal herpes zoster: Three case reports
DISCUSSION: The trigemino-cervical complex has the potential to cause neuralgia in the occipital region, as referred pain, caused by trigeminal herpes zoster. These cases suggest that, even if conjunctivitis or reddish spots appear to be trivial in the trigeminal nerve territory, trigeminal herpes zoster should be considered when neuralgia occurs in the ipsilateral occipital region.PMID:38525807 | DOI:10.1111/head.14698 (Source: Headache)

Readability analysis and concept mapping of PROMs used for headache disorders
CONCLUSION: The PROMs used in studies of headache disorders may be challenging for some patients to understand, leading to inaccurate or missing data. Furthermore, no available PROM comprehensively measures the health-related quality-of-life impact of headache disorders or their treatment, resulting in a limited understanding of patient-reported outcomes. The development of an easy-to-understand, comprehensive, and validated headache disorders-specific PROM is warranted.PMID:38525832 | DOI:10.1111/head.14706 (Source: Headache)
