Contralateral C7 Nerve Transfer
Handchir Mikrochir Plast Chir. 2024 Feb 26. doi: 10.1055/a-2246-1704. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTComplex brachial plexus injuries with multiple or complete root avulsions make intraplexic reconstruction impossible in some cases. Such cases necessitate the use of extraplexic nerve donors such as the spinal accessory nerve or intercostal nerves. The contralateral C7 root represents a donor with a high axon count and can be used as an axon source in such cases. We summarise current indications, surgical technique and functional results after a contralateral C7 transfer in cases of brachial plexus injury, describing some of...

"Sequential Chimeric Osteocutaneous DCIA-Perforator-SIEA Flap to Reconstruct an Osteocutaneous Defect in the Lower Extremity and the Importance of Preserving the Ascending Branch - A Case Report"
CONCLUSION: While preparing the DCIA-perforator free flap, it is important to preserve the ascending branch of the deep circumflex iliac vessels and the vessels needed to harvest either a SIEA or SCIP flap.PMID:38359862 | DOI:10.1055/a-2246-2190 (Source: Handchirurgie Mikrochirurgie Plastische Chirurgie)

Rare Compression Syndrome of the Median Nerve due to a Supracondylar Humeral Process and a Ligament of Struthers
Handchir Mikrochir Plast Chir. 2024 Feb 15. doi: 10.1055/a-2234-4636. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: A supracondylar process is a bony spur on the distal anteromedial surface of the humerus, and it is considered an anatomical variant with a prevalence of 0.4-2.7% according to anatomical studies. In almost all cases, it is associated with a fibrous, sometimes ossified ligament, which extends from the supracondylar process to the medial epicondyle. This ligament is known in the literature as the ligament of Struthers, named after the Scottish anatomist who first described it in detail in 1854. In rare cases, the...

Pull-out vs. Naht bei Beugesehnenverletzungen der Zone Ia-Ib: klinische Ergebnisse einer multizentrischen Kohortenstudie
CONCLUSION: This register-based study demonstrates lower complication and reoperation rates with the direct suture approach compared with a pull-out button technique. Although clinical results were similar between the two surgery techniques at week 13 post-surgery, a direct suture approach should always be attempted whenever possible. If necessary, other local structures should be included to increase suture strength and allow for early active motion rehabilitation regimens.PMID:38359864 | DOI:10.1055/a-2217-7944 (Source: Handchirurgie Mikrochirurgie Plastische Chirurgie)

Prediction Of Palmaris Longus Tendon Length And Thickness Through Simple Anthropometric Measurements
CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that height and forearm length have limited accuracy in predicting PLT length and thickness. The preoperative ultrasonographic examination can provide valuable assistance, particularly in cases that require grafts with precise length and thickness requirements.PMID:38359865 | DOI:10.1055/a-2239-6341 (Source: Handchirurgie Mikrochirurgie Plastische Chirurgie)
