Overweight and obesity as risk factors for cervical cancer and detection of precancers among screened women: A nationwide, population-based cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Higher than normal BMI was associated with higher incidence rates of cervical cancer and lower rates of precancer detection, emphasizing the importance of further research in possible mechanisms behind this association.PMID:38103421 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.12.002 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

What is the most pertinent definition of malnutrition in epithelial ovarian cancer to assess morbidity and mortality?
CONCLUSION: We were not able to reach a consensus concerning the most accurate definition to define malnutrition and predict morbidity and mortality in EOC. However, this modifiable prognosis factor must be systematically assessed and managed accordingly.PMID:38101153 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.12.003 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Underrepresentation of racial and ethnic minority groups in gynecologic oncology: An analysis of over 250 trials
CONCLUSION: Less than half of trials that published results reported race/ethnicity data. Available data reveals that enrollment of REMGs is significantly below expected rates based on national census data. These disparities persisted even after additionally adjusting for population size. Despite improvement in recent years, additional recruitment of REMGs is needed to achieve more representative and equitable participation in gynecologic cancer clinical trials.PMID:38096673 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.12.001 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Association between adherence to posttreatment National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) surveillance guidelines and detection of recurrent uterine cancer
CONCLUSION: Adherence to NCCN posttreatment surveillance guidelines for uterine cancer is independently associated with an earlier diagnosis of recurrence.PMID:38096674 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.024 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Black-White differences in uterine cancer symptomatology and stage at diagnosis
CONCLUSIONS: Having non-PMB symptoms was associated with more advanced stage at diagnosis. Non-PMB symptoms were more common among Black than White patients, which might hinder symptom recognition/evaluation.PMID:38091770 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.029 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Relationship between frailty and nutrition: Refining predictors of mortality after primary cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that frailty and nutrition are both related to 90-day mortality. Preoperative interventions to improve functional and nutritional characteristics are needed.PMID:38091771 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.031 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Exploring the perspectives of underrepresented voices: Perceptions and experiences of uterine cancer for black African, Caribbean, black British, and mixed-black women in the UK to develop strategies for early symptom presentation
CONCLUSIONS: The deficiency of targeted knowledge mobilisation and specific UC information aimed at Black ethnicity women living in the UK, reportedly contributes to the dissemination of misconceptions and an atmosphere of apprehension around a UC diagnosis. The insights from this study highlight the significance of designing culturally sensitive strategies to promote informed decision-making and empower the dissemination of accurate health knowledge amongst Black women.PMID:38091772 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.030 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Obesity is associated with improved progression-free survival in Microsatellite-Instability-High endometrial cancer treated with pembrolizumab
CONCLUSION: In this retrospective study, obesity is associated with increased rates of disease control and improved PFS in patients treated with pembrolizumab for recurrent or advanced MMRd/MSI-H endometrial adenocarcinomas.PMID:38091773 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.033 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Similar effectiveness with primary HPV and cytology screening - Long-term follow-up of randomized cervical cancer screening trial
CONCLUSIONS: We studied the effects of HPV screening on both cervical cancer incidence and mortality for the first time in a setting with an already well-established, high-quality cytology screening program. In this kind of setting with a low incidence of cervical cancer, HPV and cytology screening showed similar effectiveness. HPV screening provides, however, an objective, validated test system and enables self-sampling which can improve screening coverage. More attention is needed yet to ensure the balance between the harms and benefits of HPV screening.PMID:38091774 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.036 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

PREDICT-GTN 2: Two-factor streamlined models match FIGO performance in gestational trophoblastic neoplasia
CONCLUSIONS: Our streamlined models could be used to assess GTN patients and replace FIGO, statistically matching performance. Given the importance of imaging parameters in guiding treatment, M2 and M3 are favoured for ongoing validation. In resource-poor countries, where access to specialist centres is problematic, M1 could be pragmatically implemented. Further prospective validation on a larger cohort is recommended.PMID:38091775 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.017 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Mixed-method approach to informing a lifestyle intervention to improve the survivorship of patients with endometrial cancer
CONCLUSION: ECS are a disparate population, with worsening behaviors and mental health following the pandemic. The identified ECS-specific barriers and facilitators to behavioral intervention participation are being used to simultaneously improve the reach of and adherence to a lifestyle intervention aimed at improving their health and QoL.PMID:38091776 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.11.028 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)
