Tissue Transglutaminase Impairs HTR-8/SVneo Trophoblast Cell Invasion via the PI3K/AKT Signaling Pathway
Conclusion: Taken together, the present study demonstrated that tTG-overexpression inhibited HTR-8/SVneo cell invasion via reducing the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 by activating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, which may lead to the occurrence or development of PE. The present data provide new insights into modulation of tTG expression as a potential therapeutic target for PE.Gynecol Obstet Invest (Source: Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation)

Oral Desogestrel as Endometrial Preparation before Operative Hysteroscopy: A Systematic Review
The pharmacologic preparation of the endometrium before hysteroscopy may be achieved with the use of various drugs. This systematic review aims to summarize the available evidence regarding the use of desogestrel for endometrial preparation before hysteroscopic procedures. A literature search for suitable articles published in English language from inception of the database until August 2019 was performed using the following databases: PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar. All original articles concerning desogestrel-only pretreatment before hysteroscopic surgery were considered eligible. Review...

“A Revolution in Favor of Reproduction”? Gynecology and Obstetrics in the “Third Reich”
During the “Third Reich,” the majority of German gynecologists and obstetricians did not hesitate to put themselves at the service of those in power. In 1933, many gynecologists initially only focused on the fact that the biopolitical objectives of the National Socialists matched their own long-standing de mands for population policy measures and the early detection and prevention of cancer. In addition, cooperating with the Nazis promised the political advancement of the profession, personal advantages, and the honorary title ofVolksgesundheitsf ührer (national health leaders). As a result, gynecologists ...

Evaluation of Biomarkers in Myoma Patients: A Prospective Study Investigating the Role of LDH, CA 125, and IGF-1 after Uterus-Preserving Surgical Therapy
Conclusion: Both LDH and IGF-1 dropped significantly in the immediate postoperative days in women with myomas after uterus-preserving surgeries were performed. The postoperative concentration of IGF-1 was correlated with the evidence of new myomas and can be potentially used for further monitoring. Future studies should be able to confirm these results. Nonhormonal Treatment for Endometriosis Focusing on Redox Imbalance
In conclusion, this review summarizes the following 2 points: superoxide anion generation by methemoglobin is enhanced in endometriosis, resulting in redox imbalance; and some compounds and natural substances that can suppress free radicals may be effective in endometriosis-related pain.
