The use of machine learning on administrative and survey data to predict suicidal thoughts and behaviors: a systematic review
ConclusionThe predictive utility of machine learning for suicidal thoughts and behaviors largely depends on the approach used. The findings of the current review should prove helpful in preparing future machine learning models using administrative and survey data.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?ID=CRD42022333454 identifier CRD42022333454. Neuropsychological dimensions related to alterations of verbal self-monitoring neural networks in schizophrenic language: systematic review
This study set out to examine the neuropsychological dimensions associated with alterations in the neural networks of verbal self-monitoring in schizophrenic language, based on the scientific evidence published to date. Exhaustive searches were conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus to identify magnetic resonance studies that evaluated verbal self-monitoring mechanisms in schizophrenia. Of a total of 133 articles identified, 22 were selected for qualitative analysis. The general findings indicated alterations in frontotemporoparietal networks and in systems such as the insula, amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex, ...

Correlations of religious beliefs with anxiety and depression of Chinese adolescents
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that religiousness in adolescents was associated with a higher likelihood of depression/more intense depressive symptoms. In addition, religious Chinese adolescents should be provided with more resources to help them cope with mental health concerns. (Source: Frontiers in Psychiatry)

Twenty years of research on borderline personality disorder: a scientometric analysis of hotspots, bursts, and research trends
Borderline personality disorder (BPD), a complex and severe psychiatric disorder, has become a topic of considerable interest to current researchers due to its high incidence and severity of consequences. There is a lack of a bibliometric analysis to visualize the history and developmental trends of researches in BPD. We retrieved 7919 relevant publications on the Web of Science platform and analyzed them using software CiteSpace (6.2.R4). The results showed that there has been an overall upward trend in research interest in BPD over the past two decades. Current research trends in BPD include neuroimaging, biological mech...

Workplace trauma and professional quality of Life in clinical and forensic psychiatry: the CRITIC study
In this study we will examine the moderating role of adverse and benevolent childhood experiences in the association between workplace trauma exposure and professional quality of life. Finally, a theoretical model on the relationships between trauma, stress and coping in the context of professional functioning will be tested using structural equation modelling.DiscussionThe CRITIC study examines which factors influence the complex relationship between childhood adversity and benevolence, and ProQOL in healthcare workers. It also aims to provide insight into the complex relationship between personal life history, individual...

Differential change in alcohol consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic: the role of loneliness, socialization, and mental well-being
ConclusionFemales reduced harmful alcohol consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic. While those who suffered the burden of social isolation and distress were more likely to increase their alcohol use, young adults who felt less lonely and met their friends more often also had a similar outcome. The relationship between loneliness and alcohol consumption among young adults is influenced by the social factors that may be facilitated by drinking. (Source: Frontiers in Psychiatry)

An interaction study of online learning satisfaction with parent-child relationships and trait coping styles
This study aims to explore the factors affecting online learning satisfaction (OLS) among students and their interaction with parent-child relationship and trait coping style. A web-based questionnaire was employed, encompassing general information, the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ), and queries related to OLS. A total of 1,287 valid questionnaires were collected, with 593 from junior high school students, 197 from high school students, and 497 from university students. Our findings indicate that parent-child relationship (PR), positive coping style (PCS), and learning status (LS) showed a positive correlation wi...

Prediction of cognitive impairment using higher order item response theory and machine learning models
Timely detection of cognitive impairment (CI) is critical for the wellbeing of elderly individuals. The MyCog assessment employs two validated iPad-based measures from the NIH Toolbox® for Assessment of Neurological and Behavioral Function (NIH Toolbox). These measures assess pivotal cognitive domains: Picture Sequence Memory (PSM) for episodic memory and Dimensional Change Card Sort Test (DCCS) for cognitive flexibility. The study involved 86 patients and explored diverse machine learning models to enhance CI prediction. This encompassed traditional classifiers and neural-network-based methods. After 100 bootstrap replic...
