Composite diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and peripheral T-cell lymphoma: a case report with two-year follow-up and literature review
Composite lymphoma is an uncommon type of lymphoid malignancy, and those consisting of concurrent diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS) in the same organ are rare. Here, we report a case of a 75-year-old male patient admitted to our emergency department with intestinal obstruction presenting with abdominal pain and vomiting. He underwent partial resection of the small intestine under general anesthesia, and subsequent histopathology confirmed the mass to be composite DLBCL and PTCL-NOS. The patient received chemotherapy with a rituximab-based regimen and ac...

Beneficial implications of adjuvant chemotherapy for stage IB lung adenocarcinoma exhibiting elevated SUVmax in FDG-PET/CT: a retrospective study from a single center
ConclusionThe preoperative SUVmax of tumors served as an indicator of the impact of ACT in the context of completely resected pathological stage I LUAD. Notably, patients within the Stage IB category exhibiting elevated SUVmax levels emerged as a subgroup experiencing substantial benefits from postoperative ACT. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Management of Trastuzumab Deruxtecan-related nausea and vomiting in real-world practice
ConclusionsThe NK1 regimen improved vomiting control at cycle 1 and, when introduced at cycle 2, significantly improved both nausea and vomiting. The biased NK1 selection for higher-risk patients may have dampened the differences between groups at cycle 1. These findings support enhanced control of T-DXd-related nausea and vomiting with NK1RA. The application of artificial intelligence for Rapid On-Site Evaluation during flexible bronchoscopy
ConclusionsThe ROSE AI system demonstrated feasibility and robustness in identifying specimen adequacy, showing potential enhancement in the diagnostic yield of FB. Nevertheless, additional enhancements, incorporating a more diverse range of training data and leveraging advanced AI models with increased capabilities, along with rigorous validation through extensive multi-center randomized control assays, are crucial to guarantee the seamless and effective integration of this technology into clinical practice. The imaging features of ectopic spleen: which modality is more consistent? A cases series report and literature reviews
Ectopic spleen (ES) is a rare condition. It is difficult to diagnose with conventional imaging modalities. In this case series, we presented the imaging features of three misdiagnosed ES cases in our hospital and previously reported cases to compare the consistency of enhancement patterns among different imaging modalities with varied phases. Finally, 22 cases were reviewed. We determined that variable arterial phase enhancement and persistent enhancement throughout the portal and delayed phases are present in contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imaging of the ES and found the arterial phase of CEUS had the highest consist...

Prediction of pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation in locally advanced rectal cancer
ConclusionTumor volume and tumor differentiation have significant predictive values in preoperative assessment of pCR among LARC patients. These findings aid clinicians to discriminate those patients who may likely benefit from preoperative regimens and to make optimal treatment plans. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Primary pure large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the urinary bladder: a case report and literature review
ConclusionsWe reviewed domestic and foreign literature and found no explicit treatment protocols exist for the disease. Surgical resection combined with chemotherapy were the most common treatments. Herein, we reported the first case of primary, pure LCNEC of the urinary bladder treated by radical cystectomy combined with pure immunotherapy, achieving sustained remission, which provides a new idea for the immunotherapy and integrative treatment of the disease. Numb cheek syndrome in breast cancer: a case report
ConclusionsOur case represents the first reported left numb cheek syndrome in association with breast cancer, due to maxillary neuropathy without any discrete mass or compressive cause. To avoid delays in diagnosing malignancy, physicians and surgeons should be aware that numb cheek syndrome can occur in association with an underlying malignancy, and that breast cancer should be counted amongst the possibilities. Case report: Immunotherapy in rare high TMB pancreatic acinar carcinoma
This case report details a patient with Pancreatic Acinar Cell Carcinoma (PACC), a rare malignancy with distinctive biological and imaging features. In the absence of standardized treatment protocols for PACC, we embarked on a diagnostic journey that led to the adoption of an innovative therapeutic regimen in our institution. A 45-year-old female patient presented with a pancreatic mass, which was histologically confirmed as PACC following a biopsy. Subsequent genomic profiling revealed a high tumor mutational burden (21.4/Mb), prompting the initiation of combined immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Notably, the patient ex...

Efficacy of osimertinib and the role of sequential liquid biopsy in patients diagnosed with NSCLC harboring EGFR and BRAF mutations at baseline: insights from two case reports
This report highlights two cases of patients diagnosed with metastatic NSCLC bearing concurrent EGFR and BRAF mutations at baseline and treated with osimertinib as first-line treatment. Molecular profiling was conducted in the tissue and plasma at the time of initial diagnosis, and subsequent repeated liquid biopsy examinations were planned after 10 days, 28 days, and at the time of radiological progression in the frame of the prospective translational study REM. These cases suggest that osimertinib may maintain its therapeutic effectiveness even in patients presenting with a baseline BRAF co-mutation. Notably, radiologica...
