DDX58 deficiency leads to triple negative breast cancer chemotherapy resistance by inhibiting Type I IFN-mediated signalling apoptosis
In this study, we investigated the role of DDX58 (DExD/H-box helicase 58), also known as RIG-I, in TNBC chemoresistance.MethodsThe relationship between DDX58 expression and breast cancer prognosis was investigated by online clinical databases and confirmed by immunohistochemistry analysis. DDX58 was knockout by CRISPR-Cas9 system (DDX58-KO), knockdown by DDX58-siRNA (DDX58-KD), and stably over expressed (DDX58-OE) by lentivirus. Western blotting, immunofluorescence and qPCR were used for related molecules detection. Apoptosis was analyzed through flow cytometry (Annexin V/7AAD apoptosis assay) and Caspase 3/7 activity assa...

Testicular metastasis from urothelial carcinoma: case report and literature review
In this report, we present an extraordinarily rare case of testicular metastasis arising from UC 8 years after surgery. The patient underwent left orchiepididymectomy and received immunotherapy postoperatively. After a 6-month follow-up, there were no signs of recurrence. Moreover, the clinical characteristics, metastasis pattern, and treatment plan were also summarized based on 14 earlier reported cases of UC with testicular metastasis. Clinical acceptance and dosimetric impact of automatically delineated elective target and organs at risk for head and neck MR-Linac patients
ConclusionMajority of auto-contours were clinically acceptable and could be used without any adjustments. Majority of structures requiring minor adjustments did not lead to significant dosimetric differences, hence manual adjustments were needed only for structures requiring major changes, which takes no longer than 10 minutes per patient. Tislelizumab induced dual organs dysfunction in a patient with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a case report
ConclusionsThe case highlights the importance of close monitoring and prompt management of toxicities associated with ICIs and the need for further research to better understand the risk factors for these toxicities and to identify effective treatments for them. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Effectiveness of sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy screening on colorectal cancer incidence and mortality: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trial
ConclusionThis meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials underscores the effectiveness of colonoscopy and, notably, sigmoidoscopy in reducing colorectal cancer incidence and mortality among average-risk populations. In comparison to fecal immunochemical testing, both colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy did not significantly impact colorectal cancer incidence and mortality in this population.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/, identifier CRD42023460007. Machine learning models based on quantitative dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI parameters assess the expression levels of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in advanced gastric carcinoma
ConclusionMachine learning classifiers based on DCE-MRI have the potential to accurately predict CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte expression levels in patients with AGC. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Prognostic nomogram in patients with right-sided colon cancer after colectomy: a surveillance, epidemiology, and end results –based study
ConclusionWe developed and validated a survival prediction model for patients with RCC. This novel nomogram outperforms the traditional TNM staging system and can guide clinical practitioners in making optimal clinical decisions. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

The global landscape and research trend of lymphangiogenesis in breast cancer: a bibliometric analysis and visualization
ConclusionsCurrently, there is a strong research basis for lymphangiogenesis in breast cancer. The core research team was primarily situated in the US. Investigating the mechanism of lymphangiogenesis in breast cancer will always remain a highly discussed topic. In particular, it was essential to emphasize the relationship between lymphangiogenesis and tumor microenvironment, stem cells, triple-negative breast cancer, and metastasis, which could be the frontiers. Case report: An atypical case of uterine adenosarcoma with extensive bizarre stromal cells and amplification of MDM2
Polypoid lesions in the uterus are very common. There are a lot of benign lesions and malignant tumor should be considered. Adenosarcoma, one of the differential diagnoses, is a rare mixed epithelial and mesenchymal tumor consisting of benign epithelial components and sarcoma stroma. Here, we present a case of atypical adenosarcoma that has never been reported. This tumor was composed of benign endometrial epithelium and hyperplastic stroma with extensive bizarre stromal cells. But the cleft-like spaces and papillary stomal fronds which were the typical histological images of adenosarcoma were absent. These stomal cells, i...

Sarcopenia accompanied by systemic inflammation can predict clinical outcomes in patients with head and neck cancer undergoing curative therapy
ConclusionsThe combination of sarcopenia and LMR was considered the most sensitive prognostic factor in patients with HNSCC, suggesting it might be beneficial for identifying poor outcome risks. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Case report: Targeted treatment strategies for Erdheim-Chester disease
ConclusionsOur results demonstrate that an appropriately chosen treatment can lead to a good therapeutic response, but dose reduction may be necessary due to side effects. With advanced targeted therapeutic treatment options, survival and quality of life are significantly improved. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Case report: Turcot syndrome type 2 in a developing country within the Caribbean
We report a case of medulloblastoma of a 12-year-old Indo-Trinidadian female with a strong family history of colorectal carcinoma. In collaboration with the SickKids-Caribbean Initiative (SCI), her tumor was confirmed to be a WHO grade 4 medulloblastoma – Wnt subtype. Genetic testing further confirmed the presence of a pathogenic APC gene variant [c.3183_3187del (p.Gln1062*)] which led to a diagnosis of Turcot syndrome type 2. The index patient received multimodal therapy which included surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and is currently post end-of-treatment and in remission. This case report aims to highlight the comp...
