Clinical and radiomics integrated nomogram for preoperative prediction of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in patients with triple-negative breast cancer
ConclusionThe Clin+RS integrated model, incorporating posterior echo and Rad-score, demonstrated an acceptable preoperative evaluation of the TIL level. The Clin+RS integrated nomogram holds tremendous potential for preoperative individualized prediction of the TIL level in TNBC. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Clinical study on the prediction of ALN metastasis based on intratumoral and peritumoral DCE-MRI radiomics and clinico-radiological characteristics in breast cancer
ConclusionThe intra- and peritumoral radiomics models based on DCE-MRI could be used to predict ALN metastasis in breast cancer, especially for the combined model with clinico-radiological characteristics showing promising clinical application value. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Association between metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and risk of incident pancreatic cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies
ConclusionThis meta-analysis indicated that MASLD was associated with a higher risk of pancreatic cancer. To further strengthen the association, future prospective cohort studies should take into account different ethnic groups, diagnostic methods of fatty liver, the severity of MASLD, and potential confounding factors, as well as explore the potential mechanisms of pancreatic cancer development in MASLD patients.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/, identifier: CRD42023489137. Case report: One case of acute myeloid leukemia M3 with atypical morphology
Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is a type of acute myeloid leukemia. About 2% of APL is characterized by atypical rearrangements. Here we reported one APL case with atypical manifestations and morphology. A 35-year-old woman patient, mainly due to fatigue, poor appetite for over 10 days and intermittent fever for 3 days. combined with the results of flow cytometry, fusion gene and chromosome, the patient was diagnosed as AML-M3 with atypical morphology. Double induction therapy with retinoic acid and arsenous acid was immediately administrated. Idarubicin was administrated on the 18th day. A re-examination was performed...

Prevalence and predictive value of sarcopenia in surgically treated cholangiocarcinoma: a comprehensive review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThe results suggest that sarcopenia is significantly related to survival outcomes and postoperative complications in cholangiocarcinoma. Appropriate diagnosis and treatment of sarcopenia should be implemented to improve the prognosis of individuals with cholangiocarcinoma.Systematic Review Registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?ID=CRD42023479866, identifier CRD42023479866. Comparison of outcomes between preoperative and postoperative systemic treatment in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma: a SEER database-based study
ConclusionsHepatocellular carcinoma patients from the SEER database who received preoperative systemic therapy had superior OS and CSS compared to those who received postoperative systemic therapy. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Interstitial needles versus intracavitary applicators only for locally advanced cervical cancer: results from real-life dosimetric comparisons
ConclusionHR-CTV coverage was higher with IC/IS IGABT than with IC IGABT, with lower doses to the OAR in patients managed for LACC after RCT. Interstitial brachytherapy in the management of LACC after radiotherapy provides better coverage of the target volumes, this could contribute to better local control and improved survival of patients. Case report: Anesthetic management for removal of tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava and pulmonary artery in renal cell carcinoma
Anesthetic management of patients with renal cell carcinoma with tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava (IVC) is challenging. This paper reports the experience of anesthesia management in a patient with advanced renal cell carcinoma with thrombus accumulation in the IVC, right atrium, and pulmonary artery who underwent radical nephrectomy and tumor thrombus removal assisted by cardiopulmonary bypass. The emboli, measuring approximately 3 × 6 cm in the left inferior pulmonary artery and 4 × 13 cm in the right main pulmonary artery, were removed completely. During incision of the IVC under systemic heparinization, signif...

Prognostic significance of pyroptosis-associated molecules in endometrial cancer: a comprehensive immunohistochemical analysis
DiscussionOur study identified cleaved caspase-1 p20 as an independent predictor of adverse outcomes in endometrial cancer. CHMP4B, an inhibitor of pyroptosis, was associated with an unfavorable RFS, whereas high cleaved gasdermin D/low CHMP4B expression was associated with a favorable RFS. These findings underscore the prognostic significance of pyroptosis and the potential interaction between cleaved gasdermin D and CHMP4B in endometrial cancer. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Case report: Metastatic ovarian mucinous carcinoma to the breast: diagnostic challenges and pitfalls
We report a case of breast metastases from advanced stage ovarian mucinous carcinoma in a 48-year-old female— a case hitherto unreported in the literature. The case is noteworthy for its atypical presentation marked by an areolar rash, clinically suggestive of Paget disease of the nipple. This unique clinical scenario, coupled with histopathological examination revealing in-situ-like carcinoma component, posed a diagnostic challenge in discerning the tumour origin. We emphasize the need for heightened awareness among pathologists to avoid misdiagnosing metastatic carcinomas as primary breast tumours, a potential pitfall ...
