The ALDH2 gene rs671 polymorphism is associated with cardiometabolic risk factors in East Asian population: an updated meta-analysis
Conclusion: Our updated meta-analysis demonstrated that ALDH2 rs671 GG populations had significantly higher levels of BMI, blood pressure, FBG, TG, LDL-C and higher risk of hypertension than GA/AA populations. Besides, to the best of our knowledge, we first report GG had a higher risk of T2DM in population without severe CCVDs, and GA/AA had a higher risk of T2DM in population with severe CCVDs. Association between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism: a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionThis MR study supports a bidirectional causal link between AA and hypothyroidism. Nevertheless, additional research is needed to gain a more thorough comprehension of the causal relationship between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

Assessing the causal relationship between gut microbiota and diabetic nephropathy: insights from two-sample Mendelian randomization
ConclusionsThis study established a causal association between specific GM and DN. Our findings contribute to current understanding of the role of GM in the development of DN, offering potential insights for the prevention and treatment strategies for this condition. Identifying diagnostic indicators for type 2 diabetes mellitus from physical examination using interpretable machine learning approach
ConclusionThis work utilized the interpretable WDD-based algorithms to construct T2DM diagnostic models based on physical examination indicators. By modeling data grouped by age and sex, we identified several predictive markers related to age and sex, uncovering characteristic differences among various groups of T2DM patients. Clinical features combined with ultrasound characteristics to predict TERT promoter mutations in papillary thyroid carcinoma: a single-center study over the past 5 years
ConclusionTERT promoter mutations were associated with older ages. They were also found to be multifocal, with a maximum diameter of ≥ 10 mm, unilateral, adjacent to the thyroid capsule, and accompanied by other benign nodules. The predictive model was of high diagnostic value. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

Autophagy and senescence facilitate the development of antiestrogen resistance in ER positive breast cancer
Estrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer is the most common breast cancer diagnosed annually in the US with endocrine-based therapy as standard-of-care for this breast cancer subtype. Endocrine therapy includes treatment with antiestrogens, such as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), selective estrogen receptor downregulators (SERDs), and aromatase inhibitors (AIs). Despite the appreciable remission achievable with these treatments, a substantial cohort of women will experience primary tumor recurrence, subsequent metastasis, and eventual death due to their disease. In these cases, the breast cancer cells...

Risk factors associated with changes in serum anti-M üllerian hormone levels before and after laparoscopic cystectomy for endometrioma
ConclusionLaparoscopic removal of endometriomas can adversely affect ovarian reserve, especially during bilateral cysts removal and when patients are diagnosed as having a higher stage of endometriosis, further impacting ovarian function. It should be noted that a decrease in AMH levels may not necessarily indicate an absolute decline in fertility. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct thorough patient evaluations and provide comprehensive patient education to offer appropriate guidance for fertility preservation. Salivary α-amylase activity is associated with cardiometabolic and inflammatory biomarkers in overweight/obese, non-diabetic Qatari women
ConclusionOur findings delineate significant associations between sAAa and markers indicative of cardiovascular disease risk and inflammation among overweight/obese adult Qatari females. Subsequent investigations are warranted to elucidate the nuances of these gender-specific associations comprehensively. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

The relationship between autoimmune thyroid disease, thyroid nodules and sleep traits: a Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionThe results of our study reveal a notable cause-and-effect relationship between Getting up and Autoimmune hypothyroidism, indicating its potential role as a protective factor against this condition. However, no causal connection was observed between sleep traits and Graves’ disease or Thyroid nodules (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

Integrating machine learning and nontargeted plasma lipidomics to explore lipid characteristics of premetabolic syndrome and metabolic syndrome
ConclusionIn the initial lipidomics analysis of pre-MetS and MetS, we identified relevant lipid features primarily linked to insulin resistance in key biochemical pathways. Biomarker panels composed of lipidomics components can reflect metabolic changes across different stages of MetS, offering valuable insights for the differential diagnosis of pre-MetS and MetS. The relationship between weight-adjusted-waist index and diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that higher WWI levels are linked to DKD in T2DM patients. The WWI index could be a cost-effective and simple way to detect DKD, but further prospective studies are needed to confirm this. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

GLP-1RA may have varying effects on cardiac structure in patients with ASCVD depending on BMI
ConclusionAccording to the study, it was found that the administration of GLP-1RA can have different effects on cardiac structure in patients with different baseline BMI, In obese patients, improvements in ventricular remodeling may be more associated with weight loss mechanisms, while in patients with normal or low BMI, GLP-1RA may directly improve atrial remodeling through GLP-1 receptors in atrial tissue. Impact of bariatric surgery on ovarian reserve markers and its correlation with nutritional parameters and adipokines
ConclusionsOur results were in line with previous observations, showing that AMH levels decreased significantly at 12 months after bariatric surgery, in parallel with a non-significant reduction in AFC. Both ovarian reserve markers showed a later stabilization up to the end of the study. Of note, postoperative AMH levels were positively correlated with key androgen and insulin resistance-related parameters. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)
