Accumulation of antitumor polyketides by fermentation of Rubus delavayi Franch. with Clonostachys rogersoniana
Fitoterapia. 2024 Mar 18:105917. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105917. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of this work is to explore the effects of herbal medicine on secondary metabolites of microorganisms during fermentation. Clonostachys rogersoniana was found to metabolize only small amounts of polyketide glycosides rogerson B and C on fresh potatoes, but after replacing the medium to the medicinal plant Rubus delavayi Franch., the type and content of the metabolized polyketones showed significant changes. The sugars and glycosides in R. delavayi are probably responsible for the changes in secondary metabolites. Six po...

Discovery of novel secondary metabolites from the basidiomycete Lentinus cf. sajor-caju and their inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus biofilms
Fitoterapia. 2024 Mar 18:105904. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105904. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThree novel derivatives of microporenic acid, microporenic acids H-J, were identified from submerged cultures of a Lentinus species obtained from a basidiome collected during a field trip in the tropical rainforest in Western Kenya. Their structures were elucidated via HR-ESIMS spectra and 1D/2D NMR spectroscopic analyses, as well as by comparison with known derivatives. Applying biofilm assays based on crystal violet staining and confocal microscopy, two of these compounds, microporenic acids H and I, demonstrated the ability...

Ginkgolides with anti-PAF activity from Ginkgo biloba L
Fitoterapia. 2024 Mar 18:105915. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105915. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFour undescribed ginkgolides, including two rare sesquiterpene ginkgolides (compounds 1 and 2) and two diterpenoid ginkgolides (compounds 3 and 4), were isolated from Ginkgo biloba L. The structures of these four ginkgolides were identified based on extensive spectroscopic analysis, DP4+ probability analysis and X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited excellent antiplatelet aggregation activities with IC50 values of 1.20 ± 0.25 and 4.11 ± 0.34 μM, respectively.PMID:38508499 | DOI:10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105915 (Source: Fitoterapia)

Colletodiol derivatives of the endophytic fungus Trichocladium sp
In this study, we applied the OSMAC-approach to the endophytic fungus Trichocladium sp. by supplementation of the cultivation medium with 2.5% phenylalanine. This experiment yielded five new compounds, trichocladiol (1), trichocladic acid (2), colletodiolic acid (3), colletolactone (4) and colletolic acid (5), together with five previously described ones (6-10). The structures were elucidated via comprehensive spectroscopic measurements, and the absolute configurations of compound 1 was elucidated by using TDDFT-ECD calculations. For formation of compounds 3-5, a pathway based on colletodiol biosynthesis is proposed. Compo...

Fitoterapia. 2024 Mar 16;175:105902. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105902. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeven new triterpenoids, named Adeterpenoids A-G (1-7) and eight known compounds (8-15), were isolated from 70% ethanol extract of the roots of Adenophora tetraphylla (Thub.) Fisch. The compounds from it were separated by column chromatography techniques such as silica gel, ODS, and preparative liquid chromatography. Their structures were clarified based on extensive spectral analysis (1D, 2D-NMR, HR-ESI-MS, IR, UV, and CD) and comparison with the literature. At the same time, all compounds were evaluated for their cytotox...

Artemdubosides A-G, seven unusual polyacetylenes from Artemisia dubia var. subdigitata and their antihepatoma activity
Fitoterapia. 2024 Mar 11;175:105909. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105909. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTArtemdubosides A-E (1-5), the first examples of natural polyacetylenes substituted by 6'-O-crotonyl β-glucopyranoside, and artemdubosides F-G (6-7) that were two unusual polyacetylenes featuring a 6'-O-acetyl β-glucopyranoside moiety, were isolated from Artemisia dubia var. subdigitata. Their structures were elucidated based on the spectral data including HRESIMS, UV, IR, 1D and 2D NMR, and ECD calculations. Antihepatoma assay suggested that compound 1 exhibited activity against HepG2, Huh7, and SK-Hep-1 cells with inhib...

Fitoterapia. 2024 Mar 11;175:105905. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105905. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSix new dimeric 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromones (1-6) were successfully isolated from the ethanol extract of agarwood of Aquilaria filaria from Philippines under HPLC-MS guidance. Compounds 1-6 are all dimers formed by linking 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone and flindersia 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone via a single ether bond, and the linkage site (C5-O-C8'') of compound 2 is extremely rare. A variety of spectroscopic methods were used to ascertain their structures, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analy...
