Moraxella Keratitis: A Case Series
Conclusions: Moraxella keratitis is a less frequent form of bacterial keratitis that appears more prevalent in patients with previous ocular conditions. Early diagnosis of this infection and medical treatment with a conventional corneal ulcer regimen can result in good clinical outcomes without the need for a surgical intervention. Corneal Endothelial Cell Changes After Femtosecond Laser–Assisted Cataract Surgery in Diabetic and Nondiabetic Patients
Conclusions: Changes in postoperative corneal endothelial cells were comparable between patients with and without diabetes after FLACS. Femtosecond laser–assisted cataract surgery seems to cause less damage to the corneal endothelium in diabetic patients because it uses less phacoemulsification energy. Increased Endothelial Cell Density in Childhood Patients With Thalassemia Major
Conclusion: This study shows that there are differences in ECD, AL, keratometry values, ACD, and anterior segment parameters of pediatric patients with TM compared with healthy controls. (Source: Eye and Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice)

Comparison of Postoperative Symptoms of Alcohol-Assisted Versus Mechanical Epithelial Removal in Photorefractive Keratectomy: A Contralateral Double Blind Clinical Trial
Conclusion: We found less pain and discomfort using alcohol-assisted technique compared with mechanical epithelial removal that was provided by a detailed pain and ocular discomfort symptoms assessment one day following PRK surgery. (Source: Eye and Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice)

Effect of Repeated Topical Povidone-Iodine and Antibiotic Applications on Meibomian Glands and Ocular Surface Parameters in Patients With Repeated Intravitreal Injections
Objectives: To assess whether meibomian glands and ocular surface parameters are affected by repeated topical povidone-iodine and antibiotic applications in patients with repeated intravitreal injections. Methods: Forty-five patients with at least three previous intravitreal injections and 28 healthy controls were included in the study. In the injection group, 21 patients had age-related macular degeneration and 24 patients had diabetic macular edema. For each participant, infrared meibography for the upper and lower eyelids and noninvasive tear break-up time calculation were performed with a corneal topographer...

Tear Function Alterations and Conjunctival Impression Cytology Findings in Patients With Gout
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the tear functions and conjunctival impression cytology (CIC) findings of patients with gout and compare them with healthy controls. Methods: Thirty-four patients with gout (group 1) and 32 age-matched and gender-matched healthy individuals (group 2) were included in this cross-sectional study. Schirmer 1 test, tear breakup time (TBUT), Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) score, and CIC grade were evaluated and compared between the groups. Results: There was no significant difference between the groups in gender and age (P=0.923 and P=0.078, respectively)....

Effect of Blue Light Filters on Tear and Contrast Sensitivity in Individuals Using Electronic Devices
Conclusion: The results establish a possible relationship between tear stability, improved contrast sensitivity, and the use of a blue filter in contact lenses. (Source: Eye and Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice)

Filaggrin Expression in the Lid Margin During Contact Lens Wear
Conclusion: Filaggrin expression seems to be a normal part of epithelial cell differentiation in the lid margin and may not be a useful keratinization/stress biomarker in the marginal epithelium. Investigating other keratinization biomarkers that are not detected in the normal mucocutaneous junction/LW may help to understand the keratinization nature of LW epithelium changes in CL wearers. Tear Film Surface Quality in Modern Daily Disposable Contact Lens Wear
Conclusions: No changes in TFSQ and symptoms were reported over 12 months. Introducing NIKBUT as part of routine CL fitting is advised to improve CL fit and predict success. (Source: Eye and Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice)

Bilateral EK Rejection After COVID-19 Vaccine
Abstract: Owing to its rapid development, short-term and long-term effects of the COVID-19 vaccine are still not well understood. This case report highlights bilateral corneal endothelial graft rejection after administration of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. A 73-year-old woman with bilateral Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty presented with bilateral decreased visual acuity, ocular pain, and photophobia after her second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Two weeks after vaccine administration, the uncorrected visual acuity was 20/70 and 20/40. Central corneal thickness as measured by ultrasound was 8...

Negative Corneal Fluorescein Staining as an Exceptionally Early Sign of Acanthamoeba Keratitis: A Case Report
Conclusion: Acanthamoeba keratitis usually manifest as superficial epitheliopathy and progresses to the stroma. Findings may be obscure or atypical; comprehensive and careful examination may reveal mild findings in the early stages. (Source: Eye and Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice)

Evaluation of the Quality, Reliability, and Educational Content of YouTube Videos as an Information Source for Soft Contact Lenses
Objectives: To evaluate the quality, reliability, and educational content of YouTube videos related to soft contact lenses (CL). Methods: An online YouTube search was performed for the terms contact lens and other common CL-related terms contact lens insertion and removal, contact lens wearing, and contact lens care. The first 50 videos were evaluated for each term. Videos were evaluated using three checklists (the modified DISCERN criteria, the Journal of the American Medical Association [JAMA] criteria, and Global Quality Score [GQS]). Video popularity was also evaluated using the video power index (VPI). Vide...

Lens in Primary Congenital Glaucoma Eyes Treated by Combined Angle and Filtering Surgery
Conclusions: Changes in the natural crystalline lens clarity and/or position occurred in 8.8% (54 of 613) of PCG eyes operated by combined angle-filtering surgery with antimetabolites. Lens extraction was a relatively safe procedure with only 15% (4 of 26) of eyes suffering an elevation of IOP after lens extraction. (Source: Eye and Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice)
