Recent advance of next-generation sequencing in patients with lung cancer
Expert Rev Mol Diagn. 2023 Sep 26:1-12. doi: 10.1080/14737159.2023.2260755. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Precision medicine based on the driver genes mutation status is the current systemic therapeutic paradigm in patients with lung cancer. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has emerged as a powerful platform for molecular diagnosis by virtue of high-throughput and massively parallel sequencing. Liquid biopsy also enabled the dynamic monitoring and comprehensive profiling of lung cancer in a noninvasive manner. However, challenges remain in the field of technology and clinical applications, especially in the e...

Maintaining point of care testing capacity and pandemic preparedness in the post-COVID-19 era
Expert Rev Mol Diagn. 2023 Sep 19:1-5. doi: 10.1080/14737159.2023.2260743. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Testing at the point of care (we also refer to the 'point of need'), with rapid, actionable results reported to the patient and provider within hours can impact the individual as well as public health. Faster testing is good for patients and public health outcomes during 'peace time' (outside of the pandemic setting).AREAS COVERED: Testing at the point of need was important during the COVID-19 pandemic to meet testing capacity demands, providing actionable results, and for providing testing within communit...

Salivette ® Cortisol versus oropharyngeal swabbing for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 infection
CONCLUSIONS: The SC may be an alternative for SARS-CoV-2 detection where naso/oropharyngeal swabbing is not feasible/available. This technique also confirms observations that the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the upper airway may vary due to viral load over the disease course.TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT04599959.PMID:37724431 | DOI:10.1080/14737159.2023.2260308 (Source: Expert Review of Molecular Diagnostics)
