Microarray analysis identifies human apoA-I < sub > Milano < /sub > and apoA-II as determinants of the liver gene expression related to lipid and energy metabolism
Exp Cell Res. 2023 Oct 17:113826. doi: 10.1016/j.yexcr.2023.113826. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe phenotype of individuals carrying the apolipoprotein A-IMilano (apoA-IM), the mutant form of human apoA-I (apoA-I), is characterized by very low concentrations of HDL and apoA-I, and hypertriglyceridemia. Paradoxically, these subjects are not found to be at increased risk of premature cardiovascular disease compared to controls. Besides, various in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that apoA-IM possesses greater anti-atherosclerotic activity compared to apoA-I. The molecular mechanisms explaining the apoA-IM carr...

"The recent development of carbon-based nanoparticles as a novel approach to skin tissue care and management - A review"
Exp Cell Res. 2023 Oct 17:113821. doi: 10.1016/j.yexcr.2023.113821. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSince the skin is the first barrier of the body's defense against pathogens, delays in the healing process are affected by infections. Therefore, applying advanced substitute assistance improves the patient's quality of life. Carbon-based nanomaterials show better capabilities than conventional methods for managing skin wound infections. Due to their physicochemical properties such as small size, large surface area, great surface-to-volume ratio, and excellent ability to communicate with the cells and tissue, carbon-based nano...

Human visceral adipose tissue microvascular endothelial cell isolation and establishment of co-culture with white adipocytes to analyze cell-cell communication
In conclusion, we developed a robust method to isolate EC from small quantities of human VAT. Furthermore, the MAAECC system established during the study enables one to study the communication between primary white adipocytes and EC or vice-versa and could also be employed for drug screening.PMID:37852349 | DOI:10.1016/j.yexcr.2023.113819 (Source: Experimental Cell Research)

3DCNAS: A universal method for predicting the location of fluorescent organelles in living cells in three-dimensional space
In this study, we propose a method named three-dimensional cell neural architecture search (3DCNAS) to predict subcellular structures of fluorescence using unlabeled transmitted light microscope images. By leveraging the automated search capability of differentiable neural architecture search (NAS), our method partially mitigates the issues of overfitting and underfitting caused by the distinct details of various subcellular structures. Furthermore, we apply our method to analyze cell dynamics in genome-edited human induced pluripotent stem cells during mitotic events. This allows us to study the functional roles of organe...
