Etiologies Associated With Elevated Liver Enzymes After Renal Transplant
CONCLUSION: The most common cause of deranged liver enzymes in patients who received living related renal transplants in our population was sepsis, which can have a substantial effect on graft survival.PMID:38385391 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P5 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Recurrence Rate of Early Hepatitis C Virus Infection After Renal Transplantation Following Successful Treatment of Patients on Dialysis With Direct-Acting Antiviral Agents
CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this study is the first to document excellent response of direct-acting antivirals in renal transplant recipients who had been referred early for transplant. Thus, dialysis patients can undergo transplant after achieving end-oftreatment response.PMID:38385392 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P6 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Living With a New Kidney From the Perspective of Adolescent Kidney Transplant Recipients: A Mandala-Supported Qualitative Study Protocol
CONCLUSIONS: This study, to our knowledge, is the first to focus on Mandala art therapy and the experiences of pediatric kidney transplant recipients and what it feels like to grow up with a new kidney. Our results will contribute to the literature and will help researchers understand what pediatric kidney transplant recipients are going through and what it means for them to live with a new kidney. Mandala art therapy can help pediatric kidney transplant recipients express their feelings and thoughts that they cannot otherwise express.PMID:38385393 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P9 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplan...

Immunology Status of Patients During Kidney Transplant
CONCLUSIONS: It is crucial to assess the reduction of donor-specific antibody quantity, considering both the percentage and the mean fluorescence intensity. To avoid false-positive results in crossmatch analysis, drug half-life must be considered. Laboratories should have various crossmatch techniques, such as flow cytometry and single-antigen microsphere bead assay technology, available for research and urgent cases that require crossmatch analysis.PMID:38385394 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P12 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Psychosocial Problems in Recipients of Kidney Transplant
CONCLUSIONS: Recent studies have indicated that kidney transplant recipients experience depression, anxiety, and stress during the posttransplant period. Support is recommended for recipients after kidney transplant, and interventions aimed at reducing depression, anxiety, and stress are needed.PMID:38385395 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P18 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Sleep Disorders in Kidney Transplant Recipients
CONCLUSIONS: Sleep disorders can have detrimental effects on kidney allograft function, emphasizing the crucial need for systematic screening and management to ensure the survival of both the graft and the recipient. In light of this, it is imperative for nurses to regularly assess the sleep health of transplant recipients and, when deemed necessary, employ specific nursing interventions to address sleep problems and enhance overall sleep quality during the provision of care.PMID:38385396 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P20 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Frequency of Complications After Kidney Transplant in the Early Postoperative Period
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the frequency of postoperative complications, timely assistance and further monitoring of patients can lead to normal functioning of the kidney transplant, except for cases of hyperacute rejection.PMID:38385397 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P25 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Impact of Pretransplant Dialysis Modality on Posttransplant Outcomes: A Single-Center Experience
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with peritoneal dialysis, pretransplant hemodialysis is associated with better posttransplant patient survival despite no difference in the graft outcome. Diabetes-related complications could be attributed to such outcomes.PMID:38385398 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P36 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Improvement Gaps to Deal with the Shortage of Lungs for Transplant From a Middle Income Country's Perspective
CONCLUSIONS: Opportunities for improvement may involve training physicians involved in the donor maintenance process and reviewing the donor selection criteria used to increase adherence to expanded selection criteria.PMID:38385399 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P47 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Attitudes of Future Nurses and Midwives On Organ Donation and Transplantation and Affecting Factors: A Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the need for health care professionals, including nursing students, to be educated and prepared to promote and support organ donation. By understanding the factors that influence attitudes, interventions and educational programs can be developed to improve organ donation rates and address misconceptions or concerns among nursing students.PMID:38385400 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P52 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Relationship Between the Decision-Making Balance Regarding Organ Donation and Level of Empathy
CONCLUSIONS: We found a positive relationship between empathy and the individual decision-making balance on donation; therefore, empathy development and altruism may affect organ donation decisions.PMID:38385401 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P53 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Organ Donation Among Tunisian Adults: Results of a National Survey
CONCLUSIONS: Tunisian adults seem to have positive attitudes regarding organ donation. However, the proportion of respondents who included their donor status on their national identity cards was low. It is important to enhance information and education on organ donation in an effort to mitigate the shortage of organs.PMID:38385402 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P56 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

Demographic and Clinical Characteristics of Kidney Donors at First Check: A Single-Center Experience
CONCLUSIONS: For living transplant procedures at a single center in Iraq, most were from related donors. Most donors are unemployed, which mandates future health and social support. High immunological and viral risks must not be ignored in a single center with living related donors.PMID:38385403 | DOI:10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P58 (Source: Experimental and Clinical Transplantation : official journal of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation)

The Challenge of Preoperative Panel Reactive Antibody Positivity in Parathyroid Transplantation
CONCLUSIONS: Improving patient symptoms and having no requirement for intravenous calcium replacement are priorities, and monitoring serum levels is the next important step. Varied panel reactive antibody positivities and survival rates indicate a requirement, and each HLA class could require a proper limitation for the mean fluorescence intensity. Preoperative mean fluorescence intensity cut-off value should be <900. Higher mean fluorescence intensity values in panel reactive antibody screenings could increase risk of short-term graft survival after parathyroid transplant. Further studies should include immunological r...
