Editor's Choice – Comparison of Open Surgery and Endovascular Techniques for Juxtarenal and Complex Neck Aortic Aneurysms: The UK COMPlex AneurySm Study (UK-COMPASS) – Peri-operative and Midterm Outcomes
Treatment of juxtarenal and complex neck abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) is now commonly by endovascular rather than open surgical repair (OSR). Published comparisons show poor validity and scientific precision. UK-COMPASS is a comparative cohort study of endovascular treatments vs. OSR for patients with an AAA unsuitable for standard on label endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). In Memoriam of Bernhard Nachbur
Bernhard Nachbur has died at the age of 95. He was a vascular and thoracic surgeon at University Hospital of Bern, Switzerland. He was founder and member of numerous vascular societies in Europe and overseas. Bernhard Nachbur was a man of high ethical convictions, a personality with the gift for preserving the good from the traditional without closing his mind to the better from the present, and keeping his intellectual curiosity for potential future improvements. One of the cornerstones of his success was his conscientious medical practice and well founded medical expertise. (Source: European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Giant Pseudoaneurysm of the Brachial Artery in a Newborn
A one month old boy presented with an anteromedial pulsatile mass in the left upper extremity. He had previously undergone peripheral vein cannulation 7 days before. Computed tomography angiography showed a pseudoaneurysm of the distal brachial artery measuring 50 x 25 x 30 mm (Panel A, arrow). Under general anaesthesia, the proximal and distal brachial artery was exposed (Panel B, arrow), the pseudoaneurysm was resected and, after local infusion of heparin, the repair was performed with 9-0 polypropylene interrupted sutures using microsurgical loupes. International Perspective on Extremity Vascular Trauma in Children: A Scoping Review
Extremity vascular trauma in children can result in significant morbidity and mortality. Most published studies have focused on supracondylar humeral fracture related injuries, with little focus on other injuries. This scoping review describes the current state of knowledge on paediatric vascular injuries in upper and lower limbs, excluding injuries related to supracondylar humeral fractures. The Role of Integrated Air Transport System in Managing Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Rupture Patients
Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (rAAAs) are highly morbid emergencies. Not all hospitals are equipped to repair them, and an air ambulance network may aid in regionalising speciality care to quaternary referral centres. The association of travel distance by air ambulance on rAAA mortality in patients transferred emergently for repair was examined. (Source: European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)
