Safety and learning curve of percutaneous axillary artery access for complex endovascular aortic procedures
Background Percutaneous axillary artery access is increasingly used for large-bore access during interventional vascular and cardiac procedures. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and learning curve of percutaneous axillary artery access in patients undergoing complex endovascular aortic repair (fenestrated and branched endovascular aneurysm repair [FBEVAR]) requiring large-bore upper extremity access and to discuss best practices for technique and complication management. Long-term functional outcomes of upper extremity civilian vascular trauma
Objective: Civilian analyses of long-term outcomes of upper extremity vascular trauma (UEVT) are limited. Our goal was to evaluate the management of UEVT in the civilian trauma population and explore the long-term functional consequences. (Source: European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Creating hemodialysis autogenous access in children and adolescents
This study analyzes a 10-year experience creating arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) in children and adolescents. Our goal is to review our strategy for creating functional autogenous vascular access in younger patients and report our results. (Source: European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Decision aids for patients with carotid stenosis
Background: Shared decision-making tools have been underused by clinicians in real-world practice. Changes to the National Coverage Determination by Medicare for carotid stenting greatly expand the coverage for patients, but simultaneously require a shared decision-making interaction that involves the use of a validated tool. Accordingly, our objective was to evaluate the currently available decision aids for carotid stenosis. (Source: European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Effect of junctional reflux on the venous clinical severity score in patients with insufficiency of the great saphenous vein (JURY study)
Objective: Effective treatment options are available for chronic venous insufficiency associated with superficial venous reflux. Although many patients with C2 and C3 disease based on the CEAP (Clinical-Etiological-Anatomical-Pathophysiological) classification have combined great saphenous vein (GSV) and saphenofemoral junction (SFJ) reflux, some may not have concomitant SFJ reflux. Several payors have determined that symptom severity in patients without SFJ reflux does not warrant treatment. In patients planned for venous ablation, we tested whether Venous Clinical Severity Scores (VCSS) are equivalent in those with GSV r...

Outcomes following interval delayed first rib resection for acute axillosubclavian deep venous thrombosis
Background: Current management of axillosubclavian deep venous thrombosis (DVT) often uses thrombolysis for the DVT, prompt first rib removal, and occasional venoplasty or stenting. Our institution has increasingly used anticoagulation alone followed by interval first rib resection. We sought to analyze the effectiveness of this simplified technique. Registry Capture of Implantable Vascular Devices to Drive Patient Safety
Vascular and endovascular surgeons implant medical devices to treat patients suffering from common conditions such as aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, venous pathology, and carotid artery disease. The vast majority of these interventions benefit patients, but occasionally these devices do not perform as well as was hoped in the clinical setting, are not durable, and on rare occasions, lead to patient harm.
