Evidence on Aortic Arch Aneurysm Diameter Thresholds: Standing on a Wobbly Stepping Stone
Aortic diameter is the main parameter defining diagnosis and intervention in aortic aneurysms, regardless of criticism regarding its accuracy and reliability.1,2 Despite an increased interest in new treatment options for the aortic arch, including frozen elephant trunk and complex endovascular repairs, the foundation of treatment decisions in the aortic arch remains unsatisfactory, with normal diameters and treatment thresholds mostly derived from adjacent aortic segments.
