Intermittent self-catheterization training and effects on treatment adherence and infection
CONCLUSIONS: The timing of CISC education does not affect treatment adherence or the occurrence of complications. However, the adherence to the CISC prescription seems to reduce the risk of infection.CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: Patient training can be scheduled according to the organization of the centers, as patient compliance and the occurrence of complications are not affected.PMID:37750862 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.23.08008-5 (Source: European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine)

The impact of pregnancy on women with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: a scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: Higher-quality prospective longitudinal research is needed to understand the relationship between pregnancy and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Further, the patient's perspective, concerns and fears surrounding pregnancy with scoliosis are yet to be explored. Exploring the impact of pregnancy on women with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis would have clinically relevant outcomes and could help provide pertinent answers to patients and healthcare workers and help guide future research.PMID:37746783 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.23.08086-3 (Source: European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine)

Clinician-led mental health conversations significantly associated with outcomes for scoliosis patients
CONCLUSIONS: Mental health is not discussed by scoliosis providers as often as patients desire it, and a desire to have these conversations is negatively associated with several clinical outcomes. Although clinicians are not regularly talking about mental health, the positive associations of mental health discussions with clinical outcomes are encouraging.CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: The ability to acknowledge the desire to discuss mental health, begin these discussions, and refer patients to a mental health professional may improve patient outcomes.PMID:37746784 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.23.08084-X (Source: European Jo...

Long-term outcome after brace treatment of Scheuermann's kyphosis: an observational controlled cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: The results confirm that conservative treatment in Scheuermann's kyphosis during skeletal growth is effective. Bracing treatment can remodel the deformed vertebrae.CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: At the 10-year follow-up after bracing, kyphosis curve correction was stable over time.PMID:37746785 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.23.08070-X (Source: European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine)
