Association of global longitudinal strain by feature tracking cardiac magnetic resonance imaging with adverse outcomes among community ‐dwelling adults without cardiovascular disease: The Dallas Heart Study
ConclusionsImpaired LV GLS assessed by FT-CMR among adults free of cardiovascular disease is associated with a higher risk of incident MACE and incident HF or death independent of cardiovascular risk factors, cardiac biomarkers and LVEF. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

Effect of a transitional care model following hospitalization for heart failure: 3 ‐year outcomes of the Patient‐Centered Care Transitions in Heart Failure (PACT‐HF) randomized controlled trial
ConclusionsMore than 9 of 10 patients hospitalized for HF experienced all-cause death, readmission, or ED visit at 3  years. A transitional care model with services titrated to risk did not improve the composite of these endpoints, likely because there were no major differences in uptake of medical therapies between the groups.Clinical Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT02112227. Exercise catheterization in adults post ‐Fontan with normal and abnormal haemodynamic criteria: Insights into normal Fontan physiology
ConclusionPAWP>20  mmHg and mean PA pressure>25  mmHg could be used to define elevated values during exercise in adults post-Fontan. The major discrepancy in exercise haemodynamics among Group II compared to controls appears to be the degree of systemic venous hypertension and arterial desaturation. Association between secondhand smoke exposure and incident heart failure: The Multi ‐Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA)
ConclusionSecondhand smoke exposure reflected by modestly increased urinary cotinine (>7.07  ng/ml) rather than self-report in non-active smokers was associated with a 40–50% higher risk of any HF event. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)
