Associations between baseline heart rate and blood pressure and time to events in HFrEF patients: data from the QUALIFY international registry
ConclusionIn patients with HFrEF and recent hospitalisation, elevated RHR and lower SBP identify patients at increased risk for CV endpoints. While SBP and RHR are often recognized as barriers that deter physicians from treating with high doses of recommended drugs, they are not the only reason leaving many patients suboptimally treated. This article is protected by copyright. Relationship Between Baseline Electrocardiographic Measurements and Outcomes in Patients with High ‐Risk Heart Failure: Insights from the VerICiguaT Global Study in Subjects With Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction (VICTORIA) Trial
ConclusionRoutine ECG measurements provide additional prognostication of mortality in high-risk HFrEF patients, particularly in women with contiguous pathologic Q waves. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

Haemodynamic and metabolic phenotyping of patients with aortic stenosis and preserved ejection fraction: a specific phenotype of HFpEF?
ConclusionsFunctional capacity is similarly impaired in ASpEF and HFpEF due to both peripheral and central components. Further investigation is warranted to determine whether extravalvular alterations may affect disease progression and prognosis in ASpEF even after valve intervention, which could support the concept of ASpEF as a specific subphenotype of HFpEF.This article is protected by copyright. Heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and efficacy and safety of dapagliflozin in heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction: Insights from DELIVER
ConclusionsMild-to-moderate COPD is common in patients with HFmrEF/HFpEF and is associated with worse outcomes. The beneficial effects of dapagliflozin compared with placebo on clinical events and symptoms were consistent, regardless of COPD status.Clinical Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03619213. Association between epicardial adipose tissue and cardiac dysfunction in subjects with severe obesity
ConclusionsIncreased EAT thickness in subjects with obesity without known cardiac disease was independently associated with subclinical cardiac dysfunction. Our findings suggest that EAT might play a role in the early stages of cardiac dysfunction in obesity before this may progress to overt clinical disease. This article is protected by copyright. Early Left Atrial Venting versus Conventional Treatment for Left Ventricular Decompression during Venoarterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Support: The EVOLVE ‐ECMO Randomised Clinical Trial
ConclusionCompared with the conventional approach, early LV unloading did not improve the VA-ECMO weaning rate, despite the rapid improvement in pulmonary congestion. Therefore, the results of this study do not support the application of this strategy after VA-ECMO insertion. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

Prognostic value of three iron deficiency definitions in patients with advanced heart failure
ConclusionsIron deficiency, when defined by serum iron concentration or transferrin saturation, was associated with increased frequency of adverse clinical outcomes in patients with advanced heart failure. The same association was not seen with guideline definition of ID. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)
