Short ‐term effects of sacubitril/valsartan therapy on myocardial oxygen consumption and energetic efficiency of cardiac work in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: A randomized controlled study
ConclusionsWe found no differences in the energetic efficiency of cardiac work between ARNI and valsartan-only groups in HFrEF patients. However, ARNI appears to have haemodynamic and cardiac mechanical effects over valsartan in heart failure patients. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

GDF ‐15 and the Effect of Empagliflozin in Heart Failure: Findings from the EMPEROR Program
ConclusionsGDF-15 is a marker of worse heart failure severity, is an independent predictor of major heart failure outcomes and may be associated with more pronounced benefits of empagliflozin. GDF-15 is increased among metformin users, and empagliflozin was associated with an increase in GDF-15 levels, primarily in patients not receiving metformin. This article is protected by copyright. Deep phenotyping of p.(V142I) ‐associated variant ATTR amyloid cardiomyopathy: distinct from wild‐type ATTR amyloidosis?
Conclusionp.(V142I)-ATTRv-CM has an aggressive phenotype characterised by myocyte loss and widespread myocardial infiltration which may account for frequent biventricular failure and poor prognosis in this ATTR-CM genotypic subgroup. This article is protected by copyright. Comprehensive vasodilatation in women with acute heart failure: Novel insights from the GALACTIC randomized controlled trial
ConclusionRapid up-titration of RAAS inhibitors was less successfully implemented in women possibly explaining their higher rate of all-cause mortality and rehospitalization for AHF.Clinical Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov, unique identifier NCT00512759. Clinical presentation, shock severity and mortality in patients with de novo versus acute ‐on‐chronic heart failure‐related cardiogenic shock
ConclusionIn this large HF-CS cohort, acute-on-chronic HF-CS was associated with more severe CS and higher mortality risk compared to de novo HF-CS, although traditional markers of CS severity and use of treatments were comparable. These findings highlight the vast heterogeneity of patients with HF-CS, emphasize that HF chronicity is a relevant disease modifier in CS, and indicate that future clinical trials should account for this. This article is protected by copyright. Proteomic prediction of incident heart failure and its main subtypes
ConclusionA small number of circulating proteins accurately predicted future HF in the AGES-RS cohort of older adults, and they alone encompass the risk information found in a collection of clinical data. Incident HF events were predicted up to eight years, with predictor performance significantly improving for events occurring less than one year ahead, a finding replicated in an external cohort study. This article is protected by copyright. Guideline directed medical therapy in severe heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: an analysis from the HELP ‐HF Registry
ConclusionsIn a large, real-world, contemporary cohort of patients with severe HFrEF, with at least one marker for advanced HF, prescription and uptitration of GDMT remained limited. A significant proportion of patients were under-treated due to unknown reasons suggesting a potential role of clinical inertia either by the prescribing healthcare professional or by the patient. Treatment with BB and ACEi/ARB/ARNI was associated with lower mortality/morbidity.This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)
