The different risk of new ‐onset, chronic, worsening, and advanced heart failure: A systematic review and meta‐regression analysis
ConclusionsOur meta-analysis of observational studies confirms the different risk for adverse outcomes across the distinct HF stages. Moreover, it emphasizes the negative prognostic value of WHF as the first progressive stage from CHF towards advanced HF. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

Albuminuria in cardiac ATTR amyloidosis: prevalence, progression and prognostic importance
ConclusionsAlbuminuria is common in patients with ATTR-CA, and more prevalent in those with a more severe cardiac phenotype. Albuminuria at diagnosis and a significant increase in UACR during follow up are associated with mortality. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Guideline ‐directed medical therapy in severe heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: an analysis from the HELP‐HF registry
ConclusionsIn a large, real-world, contemporary cohort of patients with severe HFrEF, with at least one marker for advanced HF, prescription and uptitration of GDMT remained limited. A significant proportion of patients were undertreated due to unknown reasons suggesting a potential role of clinical inertia either by the prescribing healthcare professional or by the patient. Treatment with BB and ACEi/ARB/ARNI was associated with lower mortality/morbidity. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

Growth differentiation factor ‐15 and the effect of empagliflozin in heart failure: Findings from the EMPEROR program
ConclusionsGrowth differentiation factor-15 is a marker of worse heart failure severity, is an independent predictor of major heart failure outcomes and may be associated with more pronounced benefits of empagliflozin. GDF-15 is increased among metformin users, and empagliflozin was associated with an increase in GDF-15 levels, primarily in patients not receiving metformin. Impact of vasodilators on diuretic response in patients with congestive heart failure: a mechanistic trial of cimlanod (BMS ‐986231)
ConclusionsFor patients with heart failure and congestion, vasodilation with agents such as cimlanod reduces the response to diuretic agents, which may offset any benefit from acute reductions in cardiac preload and afterload. This article is protected by copyright. Obesity in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: Insights from the REDUCE LAP ‐HF II Trial
ConclusionsIncreasing severity of obesity was associated with greater cardiac remodeling, higher right and left ventricular filling pressures, higher cardiac output and increased subsequent HF events. Despite significant obesity, many HFpEF patients have preserved right heart and pulmonary vascular function and thus, may be appropriate candidates for atrial shunt therapy. This article is protected by copyright. Early changes in renal function during rapid up ‐titration of guideline‐directed medical therapy following an admission for acute heart failure
ConclusionsIn the STRONG-HF study, HIC reduced 180-day HF readmission or death regardless of baseline eGFR. An early decrease in eGFR during rapid up-titration of GDMT was associated with more evidence of congestion, yet lower doses of GDMT during follow-up. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)

Short ‐term effects of sacubitril/valsartan therapy on myocardial oxygen consumption and energetic efficiency of cardiac work in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: A randomized controlled study
ConclusionsWe found no differences in the energetic efficiency of cardiac work between ARNI and valsartan-only groups in HFrEF patients. However, ARNI appears to have haemodynamic and cardiac mechanical effects over valsartan in heart failure patients. (Source: European Journal of Heart Failure)
