What do older patients know about their medication? A cross-sectional, interview-based pilot study
ConclusionOur study showed that medication knowledge of older patients was overall satisfying. Awareness of sick day rules, however, was poor. Future studies should evaluate the clinical benefits of sick day rules and ways of better communicating sick day rules to patients. In this regard, general practitioners may play a decisive role. LABA/LAMA versus LABA/ICS fixed-dose combinations in the prevention of COPD exacerbations: a modeling analysis of literature aggregate data
ConclusionsThis study showed that not all LABA/LAMA FDCs were superior to LABA/ICS FDCs in safety and in preventing moderate or severe exacerbations in patients with stable COPD, providing important quantitative information for COPD-related guidelines. Oxytocin treatment for core symptoms in children with autism spectrum disorder: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionWhile the therapeutic value of oxytocin in treating core symptoms of ASD in children is not fully established, the results of this meta-analysis indicate a potential moderate effect. However, further studies with larger sample sizes and more robust RCTs are needed to directly demonstrate the efficacy of oxytocin. Future research should also focus on effect size and outcome evaluation accuracy while minimizing bias in RCT experiments. (Source: European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology)

Optimisation of warfarin-dosing algorithms for Han Chinese patients with CYP2C9*13 variants
ConclusionOur study showed that the algorithm-predicted doses should be lowered forCYP2C9*13 carriers. Inclusion of theCYP2C9*13 variant in the warfarin-dosing algorithm tends to predict the warfarin maintenance dose more accurately and improves the efficacy and safety of warfarin administration in Han Chinese patients. Within-subject pharmacokinetic variability has a strong influence on individual exposure ratios in bioequivalence studies, hence on drug formulation interchangeability
ConclusionsInterchangeability between reference and generic formulations, especially for drugs with narrow therapeutic index can only be assumed if, the within-subject variance of generic is less or equal to the within-subject variance of reference or, if this is not the case, if the distribution of the generic/generic individual exposure ratios is included within the therapeutic margins of the reference drug. The impact of a summative national prescribing assessment and curriculum type on the development of the prescribing competence of junior doctors
ConclusionOur findings suggest that the inclusion of the knowledge focused DNPA in the medical curriculum improves the prescribing knowledge, but not the skills, of junior doctors at the moment of graduation. However, after 6 and 12  months, both the knowledge and skills were higher in the junior doctors whose medical curriculum included the DNPA. A curriculum that provides both theoretical and practical education seems to improve both prescribing knowledge and skills relative to a solely theoretical curriculum. Association of clozapine and norclozapine levels with patient and therapy characteristics —focus on interaction with valproic acid
ConclusionThe results of this study may help clinicians interpret TDM data and optimize CLZ dosing regimens, especially in patients concomitantly treated with VPA. Our results show that VPA primarily decreases NCLZ levels, while alteration of the parent drug is not statistically significant. (Source: European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology)

Area under the curve of tacrolimus using microsampling devices: towards precision medicine in solid organ transplantation?
ConclusionTacrolimus Cmin appears to be an imperfect reflection of drug exposure. Evaluating AUC using a microsampling approach offers a mini-invasive strategy to monitor tacrolimus treatment in transplant recipients. (Source: European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology)

The effect of renal impairment and obesity on anti-Xa peak and trough levels in patients receiving therapeutic doses of nadroparin: a comparison with control patients
ConclusionIn renal impairment, anti-Xa peak levels after dose reduction are comparable to those in controls. Weight-based dosing is suitable for obese patients. Aiming for peak levels between 0.6 and 1.0  IU/mL in these patients would result in overexposure compared to controls. Considering the association of trough levels and bleeding risk and our findings, trough monitoring seems to be a suitable parameter to identify nadroparin accumulation.
