No association between history of psychiatric treatment and postoperative weight reduction after bariatric surgery
CONCLUSION: Although men with preoperative history of psychiatric treatment had lower odds of losing weight before the surgery, psychiatric treatment did not differentiate the effectiveness of bariatric treatment in 1 year of observation. Bariatric surgery appears to be an effective obesity care for people treated for mental disorders.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: III Evidence obtained from cohort or case-control analytic studies.PMID:38489068 | DOI:10.1007/s40519-024-01645-9 (Source: Eating and weight disorders : EWD)

Preoperative contributing factors and the remission of diabetes after metabolic surgery: the mediating role of preoperative triglyceride
CONCLUSION: In summary, our findings suggest that lower preoperative fasting glucose levels enhance the likelihood of postoperative T2DM remission. Moreover, preoperative TG could potentially play a mediating role in the postoperative remission of T2DM. Therefore, evaluating and managing fasting glucose and lipids before the procedure may aid in assessing the prognosis of metabolic surgery. Level of evidence Level III, designed cohort.PMID:38436759 | PMC:PMC10912252 | DOI:10.1007/s40519-024-01647-7 (Source: Eating and weight disorders : EWD)

Target-user preferences, motivations, and acceptance for a dialectical behaviour therapy smartphone application for eating disorders
CONCLUSION: Findings generate important information about target-user preferences of a DBT-based app for EDs, highlighting necessary design principles for apps of this kind.
