Psychotic ‐spectrum symptoms, cumulative adversity exposure and substance use among high‐risk girls
ConclusionsThis symptom constellation during adolescence likely interferes with social and academic functioning. Whether representing a prodromal phase, trauma‐response or cross‐diagnostic psychopathology, accurate early detection and appropriate treatment of psychotic‐spectrum symptoms are warranted to improve functional outcomes in vulnerable populations. Subjective quality of life in recent onset of psychosis patients and its association with sociodemographic variables, psychotic symptoms and clinical personality traits
ConclusionsQoL seems to be better explained by negative psychotic symptoms and some clinical personality traits. Our results support the importance of integrated intervention approaches that consider personality. (Source: Early Intervention in Psychiatry)

From manageable to losing control: a grounded theory study of psychosis risk syndrome
ConclusionsThe framework resulting from this Grounded Theory research is innovative in presenting patterns and clinical staging that marks the progression from premorbid stage to full‐blown psychosis. In addition to specifying the detailed process through in‐depth interviews, this research makes two fundamental contributions by: (1) adding evidence to current science and (2) taking patients’ experience into consideration to improve the validity of screening tools and design appropriate intervention programs for people with early warning signs of developing schizophrenia. A call for prevention and early intervention in obsessive ‐compulsive disorder
ConclusionsMuch more research is needed in relation to the prevention of OCD. There is limited scope for primary prevention with respect to biological aetiological factors, but there is potential for strategies addressing environmental factors (eg, family factors). The effectiveness of psychoeducation for parents with OCD as a primary prevention strategy for OCD in their children requires scientific evaluation. Improving access to effective treatments for OCD would also improve tertiary prevention. (Source: Early Intervention in Psychiatry)

Psychotic conversion of individuals at ultra ‐high risk for psychosis: The potential roles of schizotypy and basic symptoms
ConclusionOur findings suggest that questionnaire‐assessed basic symptoms, irrespective of their predictive validity, may predict a psychotic breakdown in pre‐identified UHR individuals who are with genetic vulnerability to schizophrenia. Including all 3 psychosis‐proneness dimensions into prediction models might help establish a more valid pathogenetic model of schizophrenia, and moreover, may provide some clues about course alteration strategies in hopes of preventing UHR individuals from converting to psychosis. Validity and correlates of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire in first ‐episode psychosis
ConclusionsThe current results suggest that the IPAQ should be used with caution when assessing levels of MVPA in FEP. More accurate methods of measuring physical activity are needed in this population. (Source: Early Intervention in Psychiatry)
