The Agreement Between Diagnoses as Stated by Patients and Those Contained in Routine Health Insurance Data —Results of a Data Linkage Study
CONCLUSION: Diagnoses as stated by patients often differ from those found in routine health insurance data. Discrepancies that can be considered negligible were found for only two of the 11 diseases that we studied. Our investigation confirms that these two sources of data yield different estimates of prevalence. Age is a key factor; further reasons for the discrepancies should be investigated, and avoidable causes should be addressed.PMID:38169330 | DOI:10.3238/arztebl.m2023.0250 (Source: Deutsches Arzteblatt International)

Heat-Related Mortality in the Extreme Summer of 2022: An Analysis Based on Daily Data
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that previous studies based on weekly mortality data have underestimated the full extent of heat-related mortality in Germany, particularly in the extreme summer of 2022. The monitoring of heat-related mortality should be systematic and as comprehensive as possible if it is to enable the development of effective heat-health action plans.PMID:38169332 | DOI:10.3238/arztebl.m2023.0254 (Source: Deutsches Arzteblatt International)

The Diagnosis and Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa in Childhood and Adolescence
CONCLUSION: Marked weight loss in childhood and adolescence can trigger AN in the presence of a predisposition to this disease. Patients and their families should receive psychoeducation regarding the symptoms of starvation and their overlap with those of AN. Important objectives are to shorten the duration of the illness, minimize mortality and the risk of chronic illness, and to identify pharmacological approaches to treatment.PMID:38170843 | DOI:10.3238/arztebl.m2023.0248 (Source: Deutsches Arzteblatt International)
