Fracture-related infections after intramedullary nailing : Diagnostics and treatment
This article gives an overview of the general principles and diagnostic criteria for FRI after nail fixation and discusses the treatment recommendations based on three case examples. In cases of acute implant infections, an implant-retaining procedure is principally possible for both periprosthetic joint infections and FRI; however, after intramedullary nailing the nail should also be exchanged in cases of acute nail infections as a sufficient debridement of the nail is impossible due to its intramedullary location. In chronic FRI after intramedullary nailing a one-stage or two-stage procedure can be followed. In cases of ...

Unfallchirurg. 2021 Dec 18. doi: 10.1007/s00113-021-01118-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this article the basic principles of fracture sonography and meaningful areas of application in children and adults are explained. The sonographic fracture signs are presented and the typical areas of application, i.e. clavicular fracture, acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation, proximal humerus fracture, elbow fracture, wrist fracture, metacarpal 5 fracture, palmar plate, femoral bulge fracture, proximal tibia fracture, midfoot V fracture, toddler's fracture and march fracture, are outlined and known diagnostic algorithms are l...

Imaging after trauma in clinics and practice for children and adolescents : Part 1 of the results of a nationwide online survey of the Pediatric Traumatology Section of the German Trauma Society
CONCLUSION: Comparing the results of the survey with the consensus findings of the SKT recently published in this journal, persuasion is still needed to change the use of radiography in primary diagnosis.PMID:34918189 | DOI:10.1007/s00113-021-01115-2 (Source: Der Unfallchirurg)

Telemedicine in the emergency room-An extension with potential? : Results of a  recent survey
Unfallchirurg. 2021 Dec 16. doi: 10.1007/s00113-021-01120-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCritically injured patients pose great challenges for medical personnel in emergency room treatment. How can such a high workload due to a lack of personnel be reduced? Telemedicine can offer solutions here. With the help of external medical expertise, diagnoses and treatment processes are already significantly accelerated and optimized in other specialist areas. This possibility should now also be introduced into the care of critical trauma surgery patients. In this article, current emergency room treatment is reflected, problems ar...
