Trunnionosis in total knee arthroplasty: an unusual case report in revision knee arthroplasty
Conclusions: The limitations of modularity and trunnionosis must be understood, as many patients have been receiving modular total knee arthroplasty at younger ages. (Source: Current Orthopaedic Practice)

Periprosthetic early insufficiency fracture after total knee arthroplasty: a retrospective case series
Conclusions: Severe knee deformity, osteoporosis, high BMI, and small size of the femoral condyle were the main risk factors of early periprosthetic insufficiency fracture. Level of Evidence: Level IV. (Source: Current Orthopaedic Practice)

Comparisons of initial outcomes and cost-effectiveness after total ankle arthroplasty versus bipolar osteochondral allograft transplantation in the ankle: a retrospective cohort study
Conclusions: These results will guide more robust planning for 90-day postoperative reimbursement guidelines. Ongoing work is needed to assess mid-term and long-term outcomes for patients with respect to morbidity, complications, patient-reported outcomes, costs, and QALY. Level of Clinical Evidence: Level III. (Source: Current Orthopaedic Practice)

Hospital environmental influences and the rate of periprosthetic joint infections at a Canadian tertiary center: a retrospective chart review
Conclusions: Despite rates of hand hygiene at our institution being reported as having a greater than 90% success rate, we did not find any association between successful hand hygiene practices and rates of PJI. Our study revealed that the rate of infection for THA at our institution was nearly two to three times higher than what was reported in the literature, and we believe poor patient selection played a factor. Level of Evidence: Level III. (Source: Current Orthopaedic Practice)

A literature review of commercially available demineralized bone matrix products and their clinical evidence in acute fractures, nonunions, and fusion procedures
This study reviews comparison studies of brand-specific DBM products, including Allomatrix (Wright Medical Technology, Memphis, Tennessee), DBX (Depuy Synthes, Suchwil, Switzerland), Grafton (Osteotech, Eatontown, New Jersey), Orthoblast (Integra Orthobiologics, Plainsboro, New Jersey), and Osteosponge (Bacterin International, Belgrade, Montana), in an attempt to propose the most efficacious DBM product for bone grafting of various orthopaedic applications. Secondarily, we evaluate these specific DBM products in their potential use of tibial plateau fractures, which our future clinical research aims to achieve. A definitiv...

Comparing indirect decompression using elastic nails versus curettage, bone graft substitute, and intramedullary stabilization for the management of unicameral bone cysts in skeletally immature patients: a retrospective case series study
Conclusions: No statistically significant difference exists regarding the outcomes of both treatment techniques. Therefore, we recommend the use of elastic nails for intramedullary nailing alone as a first line of management of primary unicameral bone cyst because it is a less invasive technique with reliable results. Phantom pain decreases with vibrating silicone liner in lower limb amputee: a prospective study
Background: The purpose of this study was to design, construct, and evaluate the effectiveness of a vibrating silicone liner on the phantom pain of traumatic below-knee amputees. Methods: Twelve unilateral below-knee amputees who had phantom pain and did not use another treatment participated in this study. The patients were asked to use vibrating silicone liners for three 10-minute sessions daily for 30 days. The severity of pain was evaluated by the short form of the McGill Pain Questionnaire before and after 30 days of using the vibrating silicone liner. Results: The mental aspect of pain intensity, pa...

Incidence of rotational malalignment and its effect on functional outcome after nail osteosynthesis of unstable trochanteric fractures: a prospective cohort study
Conclusions: Rotational malalignment after trochanteric fracture fixation is unavoidable despite best efforts, and these patients have a significantly poorer functional outcome when compared with patients in whom there is no malalignment. Is it a must to tenotomize the biceps intraarticular origin during tenodesis? A prospective case series study of biceps tenodesis without tenotomy
This study was conducted to investigate three questions; Does biceps tenodesis without tenotomy reduce short-term tenodesis failure and revision rate? Does preserved biceps origin increase the prevalence of postoperative bicipital pain and tenderness? Does this technical modification limit postoperative range of motion? Methods: Between October 2014 and December 2018, a case series of 24 patients with different isolated biceps tendon lesions were prospectively managed by arthroscopic intraarticular suture-anchor biceps tenodesis without tenotomizing the biceps intraarticular origin. Patients were evaluated for demog...
