Research Trends in Proteomic Studies Using Serum from COVID-19 Patients: A Bibliometric Analysis
Curr Med Chem. 2024 Apr 5. doi: 10.2174/0109298673286915240329063441. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the global populace, resulting in a staggering number of deaths across the globe. New approaches and biomarkers to evaluate disease progression are crucial for improving disease management. In this context, serum proteomics has emerged as a promising tool for identifying molecular alterations related to COVID-19. This work carried out a bibliometric evaluation of the current status and trends of studies applying serum proteomics to COVID-19 subjects. The search was performed using...

Identification and Functional Characterization of Essential Genes Related to Gefitinib Sensitivity in Lung Adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: This study identified 7 critical genes related to gefitinib sensitivity in LUAD. Functionally, genes positively correlated with gefitinib sensitivity might regulate the progression of LUAD through the immune, cell cycle, and metabolic pathways and showed potential effects in predicting sensitivity to different drugs. These findings help offer a theoretical direction for personalized treatment of LUAD.PMID:38584557 | DOI:10.2174/0109298673276881240111172756 (Source: Current Medicinal Chemistry)

Exploring the Potentials of Hyaluronic Acid-coated Polymeric Nanoparticles in Enhanced Cancer Treatment by Precision Drug Delivery, Tackling Drug Resistance, and Reshaping the Tumour Micro Environment
Curr Med Chem. 2024 Apr 3. doi: 10.2174/0109298673302510240328050115. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCancer is a global health issue that requires modern treatments. Biocompatibility, variable size, and customisable targeting ligands make polymeric nanoparticles (PNPs) a flexible cancer therapy platform. Dynamic nanocarriers, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) coated PNPs, target the overexpressed CD44 receptor in cancer. Through improved permeability and retention, HA, a naturally occurring, biodegradable polymer, increases tumor accumulation and penetration. Hyaluronic acid-grafted polymeric nanoparticles (HA-PNPs) provide a number of ...

Perspectives on Iron Deficiency as a Cause of Human Disease in Global Public Health
Curr Med Chem. 2024;31(12):1428-1440. doi: 10.2174/0929867330666230324154606.ABSTRACTIron (Fe) is a necessary trace element in numerous pathways of human metabolism. Therefore, Fe deficiency is capable of causing multiple health problems. Apart from the well-known microcytic anemia, lack of Fe can cause severe psychomotor disorders in children, pregnant women, and adults in general. Iron deficiency is a global health issue, mainly caused by dietary deficiency but aggravated by inflammatory conditions. The challenges related to this deficiency need to be addressed on national and international levels. This review aims to su...
