Reconciling intimacy and safety: a qualitative systematic review of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis implementation among gay and bisexual men
Cult Health Sex. 2023 Oct 20:1-16. doi: 10.1080/13691058.2023.2270004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis review synthesises qualitative research on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) uptake by sexual minority men to provide an overarching conceptualisation of the implementation processes involved. The synthesis elucidates the dual significance of PrEP uptake: (1) risk management: reinforcing relational circumstances, and rebalancing safety and risk; and (2) sexual empowerment: reclaiming health ...
