A randomized comparison of a novel iopromide-based paclitaxel-coated balloon Shenqi versus SeQuent Please for the treatment of in-stent restenosis
Conclusions Shenqi DCB was noninferior to SeQuent Please DCB for the primary endpoint of 9-month in-segment late loss. Shenqi DCB may become an attractive alternative treatment for patients with coronary ISR, withholding the need for additional stent implantation. (Source: Coronary Artery Disease)

The impact of chronic kidney disease on long-term outcomes following semi-urgent and elective percutaneous coronary intervention
This study aims to investigate impact of CKD on long-term outcomes of this population. Methods This was a retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent semi-urgent and elective PCI from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2015 at a tertiary academic center. They were stratified into five groups – group 1 [estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) ≥90 ml/min/1.73m2], group 2 (eGFR 60–89 ml/min/1.73m2), group 3 (eGFR 30–59 ml/min/1.73 m2), group 4 (eGFR (Source: Coronary Artery Disease)

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection and Takotsubo syndrome: comparison of baseline clinical and angiographic characteristics and in-hospital outcomes
This study sought to compare the baseline clinical and angiographic characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of patients from two large prospective registries on SCAD and TTS (the prospective nation-wide Spanish SCAD Registry and a prospective single-center TTS registry). Results A total of 318 SCAD and 106 TTS consecutive patients were included. Most patients in both groups (88%) were women. Patients in the TTS group were older [74 (interquartile range, IQR 67–81) vs. 53 years-old (IQR 47–60), P (Source: Coronary Artery Disease)

Assessment of myocardial function by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography in patients with Kawasaki disease: a mid-term follow-up study
Conclusion Subclinical myocardial dysfunction in mid-term follow-up Kawasaki disease patients existed regardless of coronary artery status despite normal measurements of LV systolic function by routine echocardiography, and myocardial fibrosis may play a contributed role in this subclinical myocardial function impairment. 2DSTE is a valuable imaging modality for detecting regional and global myocardial dysfunction in Kawasaki disease patients in an early time. Creatinine variation improves Zwolle score in selecting low-risk patients after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
Background The Zwolle score is recommended to identify ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with low-risk eligible for early discharge. Our aim was to ascertain if creatinine variation (Δ-sCr) would improve Zwolle score in the decision-making of early discharge after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods and results A total of 3296 patients with STEMI that underwent primary PCI were gathered from the Portuguese Registry on Acute Coronary Syndromes. A Modified-Zwolle score, including Δ-sCr, was created and compared with the original Zwolle score. Δ-sCr was also compar...

Home health care after discharge is associated with lower readmission rates for patients with acute myocardial infarction
Objective We studied the utilization of home health care (HHC) among acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients, impact of HHC on and predictors of 30-day readmission. Methods We queried the National Readmission Database (NRD) from 2012 to 2014identify patients with AMI discharged home with (HHC+) and without HHC (HHC−). Linkage provided in the data identified patients who had 30-day readmission, our primary end-point. The probability for each patient to receive HHC was calculated by a multivariable logistic regression. Average treatment of treated weights were derived from propensity scores. Weight-adjusted l...

Ultrathin biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stent versus contemporary durable polymer everolimus-eluting stent for percutaneous coronary intervention: a meta-analysis of randomized trials
Conclusion In our study, the performance of the latest generation BP-SES was comparable to DP-EES but failed to show superiority. The possible benefit in patients with small vessels should be explored future trials. (Source: Coronary Artery Disease)

The association of polymorphism in PHACTR1 rs9349379 and rs12526453 with coronary artery atherosclerosis or coronary artery calcification. A systematic review
Conclusions Several PHACTR1 specifically rs9349379 and rs12526453 polymorphisms but not rs2026458, are associated with CAD. There are differences in the association of PHACTR1 SNPs with CAC. PHACTR1 warrants more attention and study for the prevention and treatment of CAD. (Source: Coronary Artery Disease)
