The design and implementation of these programs, especially in rural communities, remains a gap in knowledge. We aimed to understand the lessons learned from the implementation experiences of the Community, Opportunity, Network, Navigation, Exploration, and Connection Team (CONNECT), a post-overdose outreach program based in a rural community in Massachusetts. Community Participation Challenges for Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders During COVID-19 A Photovoice Study
In this study conducted during COVID-19 regulations, autistic individuals identified COVID-19 and transportation as the primary barriers to community participation. COVID-19 was identified as both a barrier and a facilitator. Autistic individuals identified that COVID-19 enabled more on-line participation. Autistic individuals with co-occurring mental health conditions can experience a greater increase in symptoms when daily routines and participation are affected. Disruption and changes in participation for the autistic community during the COVID-19 pandemic can have future implications on this population's ability to rei...

Mental Health Care Access Among Arab Immigrants in the United States: Application of Public Arena Model
Community Ment Health J. 2023 Oct 26. doi: 10.1007/s10597-023-01182-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTArab immigrants constitute a sizable portion of the US population, and their adjustment and relocation challenges might escalate mental health issues. Nevertheless, mental health care accessibility among such populations is not recognized as policy issue. Hence, it is crucial to explore the political tools that might be employed to improve immigrants' access to mental health treatment. The Public Arenas Model (Hilgartner and Bosk, American Journal of Sociology 94:53-78, 1988) provides better understanding of how access to m...

Allocation of Users of Mental Health Services to Needs-Based Care Clusters: An Italian Pilot Study
Community Ment Health J. 2023 Oct 26. doi: 10.1007/s10597-023-01200-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn Italy, despite strong community-based mental health services, needs assessment is unsatisfactory. Using the Mental Health Clustering Tool (MHCT) we adopted a multidimensional and non-diagnosis dependent approach to assign mental health services users with similar needs to groups corresponding to resources required for effective care. We tested the MHCT in nine Departments of Mental Health in four Italian regions. After a brief training, 318 professionals assessed 12,938 cases with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, depression...

Community Ment Health J. 2023 Oct 26. doi: 10.1007/s10597-023-01196-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for anxiety and depression. It is important to determine the positive and negative aspects of CBT from the perspective of service users. However, there has been a lack of qualitative exploration into service user experiences of the therapy. This review aimed to address this gap by examining participants' experiences of CBT for anxiety and depression. Databases were searched and data were synthesised thematically. CBT was well-received by participants, though...
