The cytosolic DNA-sensing cGAS-STING pathway in neurodegenerative diseases
CONCLUSION: The cGAS-STING signaling plays an important role in the pathogenesis of NDs. Inhibiting the cGAS-STING signaling may provide new measures in the treatment of NDs.PMID:38459658 | PMC:PMC10924111 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14671 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

The severity assessment of Parkinson's disease based on plasma inflammatory factors and third ventricle width by transcranial sonography
CONCLUSION: The study results show multiple factors are linked with PD assessment. Moreover, the inflammatory marker Cys C and transcranial sonography measurement could objectively predict PD symptom severity, helping doctors monitor PD evolution in patients while targeting interventions.PMID:38459662 | PMC:PMC10924109 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14670 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Fingolimod improves diffuse brain injury by promoting AQP4 polarization and functional recovery of the glymphatic system
CONCLUSIONS: In brief, these findings suggest that fingolimod alleviates whole-brain inflammation and GS system damage after DBI and that inhibiting the GS could weaken the positive effect of fingolimod on nerve function in rats with DBI. Thus, inhibiting inflammation and regulating the GS may be critical for the therapeutic effect of fingolimod on DBI.PMID:38459666 | PMC:PMC10924110 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14669 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Identification of TMZ resistance-associated histone post-translational modifications in glioblastoma using multi-omics data
CONCLUSIONS: The increase in H3K9ac appears to enhance the recruitment of the transcription factor SP1 to its binding sites within the MGMT locus, consequently upregulating MGMT expression and driving TMZ resistance in GBM.PMID:38448295 | PMC:PMC10917648 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14649 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Effect of the closed-loop hippocampal low-frequency stimulation on seizure severity, learning, and memory in pilocarpine epilepsy rat model
CONCLUSION: Applying closed-loop, low-frequency DBS at seizure onset reduced seizure severity and improved memory. In addition, the changes in power, coherence, and coupling of the LFP oscillations in the hippocampus and mPFC demonstrate low-frequency DBS efficacy as an antiepileptic treatment, returning LFPs to a seemingly non-seizure state in subjects that received DBS.PMID:38439573 | PMC:PMC10912795 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14656 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Mitochondrial ferritin alleviates ferroptosis in a kainic acid-induced mouse epilepsy model by regulating iron homeostasis: Involvement of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2
CONCLUSIONS: In epilepsy, Nrf2 modulates ferroptosis by involving the expression of FtMt and may be a potential therapeutic mechanism of neuronal injury after epilepsy. Targeting this relevant process for treatment may be a therapeutic strategy to prevent epilepsy.PMID:38439636 | PMC:PMC10912846 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14663 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)
