Identification of TMZ resistance-associated histone post-translational modifications in glioblastoma using multi-omics data
CONCLUSIONS: The increase in H3K9ac appears to enhance the recruitment of the transcription factor SP1 to its binding sites within the MGMT locus, consequently upregulating MGMT expression and driving TMZ resistance in GBM.PMID:38448295 | PMC:PMC10917648 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14649 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Effect of the closed-loop hippocampal low-frequency stimulation on seizure severity, learning, and memory in pilocarpine epilepsy rat model
CONCLUSION: Applying closed-loop, low-frequency DBS at seizure onset reduced seizure severity and improved memory. In addition, the changes in power, coherence, and coupling of the LFP oscillations in the hippocampus and mPFC demonstrate low-frequency DBS efficacy as an antiepileptic treatment, returning LFPs to a seemingly non-seizure state in subjects that received DBS.PMID:38439573 | PMC:PMC10912795 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14656 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Mitochondrial ferritin alleviates ferroptosis in a kainic acid-induced mouse epilepsy model by regulating iron homeostasis: Involvement of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2
CONCLUSIONS: In epilepsy, Nrf2 modulates ferroptosis by involving the expression of FtMt and may be a potential therapeutic mechanism of neuronal injury after epilepsy. Targeting this relevant process for treatment may be a therapeutic strategy to prevent epilepsy.PMID:38439636 | PMC:PMC10912846 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14663 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Aberrant dynamic properties of whole-brain functional connectivity in acute mild traumatic brain injury revealed by hidden Markov models
CONCLUSIONS: Hidden Markov models provide additional information on the dynamic activity of brain networks in patients with acute mTBI and those with cognitive impairment. Our results suggest that brain network dynamics determined by the HMM could reinforce the understanding of the neuropathological mechanisms of acute mTBI patients and those with cognitive impairment.PMID:38439697 | PMC:PMC10912843 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14660 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)
