Effects on temporomandibular disorder in the treatment of tension-type headache with acupuncture and therapeutic exercises. A secondary analysis from a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: Only acupuncture had long-lasting positive effects on the symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction. Significant dental findings seem to inhibit the efficacy of acupuncture for tension-type headache.PMID:38304940 | DOI:10.1177/02692155241229282 (Source: Clinical Rehabilitation)

Does Including Facebook Training Improve the Effectiveness of Computerized Cognitive Training? A Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: The utilization of CCT with VIRTRAEL, a freely accessible tool with broad applicability, resulted in enhanced attention, verbal learning, working memory, abstract and semantic reasoning, and planning among older adults. These improvements were sustained for at least three months post-training. Additional training in Facebook did not enhance the effectiveness of CCT.PMID:38291625 | DOI:10.1177/02692155241228832 (Source: Clinical Rehabilitation)

Influence of vaginal birth on lumbopelvic muscle mechanical properties on urinary incontinence
CONCLUSIONS: Vaginal birth and UI have a differential influence on the muscle mechanical properties of the PF and LP muscles. The determination of muscle mechanical properties by externally applied hand-held tonometry improves the knowledge of the lumbopelvic status, with applicability in clinical and research fields.PMID:38295335 | DOI:10.1177/02692155231224058 (Source: Clinical Rehabilitation)

Effects of immersive and non-immersive virtual reality-based rehabilitation training on cognition, motor function, and daily functioning in patients with mild cognitive impairment or dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: VR-based rehabilitation training is a beneficial nonpharmacologic approach for managing mild cognitive impairment or dementia. Immersive VR-based training had greater effects on cognition and motor function than non-immersive VR-based training, but non-immersive VR-based training was more convenient for patients with limitations imposed by their disease. Also, an intervention lasting 5-8 weeks and for >30 min at a frequency of ≥3 times/week achieved the best results. It indicated that a longer intervention cycle may not achieve the best intervention effect and training duration and schedule should be caref...

A scoping review of the use of creative activities in stroke rehabilitation
CONCLUSION: Creative activities, whether in occupational therapy or art therapy, involve providing participants with tangible crafting materials for the creation of artistic works. Future stroke rehabilitation practices should tailor activities and intervention focus based on patients' rehabilitation needs, preferences, and cultural background. The current comprehensive analysis provides initial support for the potential positive role of creative activities in stroke rehabilitation, but further in-depth research is needed to confirm their effectiveness.PMID:38232974 | DOI:10.1177/02692155241227049 (Source: Clinical Rehabilitation)

Evaluation of usability, adherence, and clinical efficacy of therapeutic footwear in persons with diabetes at moderate to high risk of diabetic foot ulcers: A multicenter prospective study
CONCLUSIONS: Diabetes patients at moderate to high risk of diabetic foot ulcer improved their perception of walking ability after therapeutic footwear prescription. Adherence to the therapeutic footwear prescription resulted in less ulcerations.PMID:38196331 | DOI:10.1177/02692155231225743 (Source: Clinical Rehabilitation)
