How Does ChatGPT Use Source Information Compared With Google? A Text Network Analysis of Online Health Information
CONCLUSION: ChatGPT responses are similar to individual Google Search results for queries related to orthopaedic surgery, but the distribution of source information can vary substantially based on the relative level of consensus on a topic. For example, for carpal tunnel syndrome, where there is widely accepted medical consensus, ChatGPT responses had higher similarity to academic sources and therefore used those sources more. When fewer academic or government sources are available, especially in our search related to platelet-rich plasma, ChatGPT appears to have relied more heavily on a small number of nonacademic sources...

Are Quality Scores in the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services Merit-based Incentive Payment System Associated With Outcomes After Outpatient Orthopaedic Surgery?
CONCLUSION: We found that the rates of unplanned hospital visits after outpatient orthopaedic surgery among Medicare beneficiaries were low and primarily driven by emergency department visits. We additionally found only a small association between MIPS quality scores for individual physicians and the risk of an unplanned hospital visit after outpatient orthopaedic surgery. These findings suggest that policies aimed at reducing postoperative emergency department visits may be the best target to reduce overall postoperative unplanned hospital visits and that the MIPS program should be eliminated or modified to more strongly ...

Surgical Hip Dislocation in the Era of Hip Arthroscopy Demonstrates High Survivorship and Improvements in Patient-reported Outcomes for Complex Femoroacetabular Impingement
CONCLUSION: Surgical hip dislocation effectively improves hip pain and function with high survivorship (free of reoperation or conversion to arthroplasty) for complex intra-articular and extra-articular FAI that is deemed less suitable for arthroscopic treatment, but when the procedure is used in patients who have had prior hip surgery, they should be told that revision surgery is a realistic possibility. If insufficient acetabular coverage is anticipated, acetabular reorientation osteotomy should be considered. Future studies should evaluate long-term survivorship and PROMs in larger patient cohorts, as well as identify o...

Intercalary Resection of the Tibia for Primary Bone Tumors: Are Vascularized Fibula Autografts With or Without Allografts a Durable Reconstruction?
CONCLUSION: VFG, alone or combined with an allograft, could be considered in reconstructing a lower extremity after intercalary resections of the tibia for primary bone tumors, and it avoids the use of a large endoprosthesis. However, this procedure was associated with frequent, often severe complications during the first postoperative years and complication-free survival of 58% at 5 years. Nearly 10% of patients ultimately had an amputation. For patients whose reconstruction succeeded, the technique provides a durable reconstruction with good MSTS scores, and we believe it is useful for active patients with long life expe...
