Development and validation of a rapid multicompartment body composition model using 3-dimensional optical imaging and bioelectrical impedance analysis
The multicompartment approach to body composition modeling provides a more precise quantification of body compartments in healthy and clinical populations. We sought to develop and validate a simplified and accessible multicompartment body composition model using 3-dimensional optical (3DO) imaging and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). Efficacy of Probiotic Treatment as Post-Exposure Prophylaxis for COVID-19: A Double-Blind, Placebo-ControlledRandomized Trial
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose unprecedented challenges to worldwide health. While vaccines are effective, additional strategies to mitigate the spread/severity of COVID-19 continue to be needed. Emerging evidence suggests susceptibility to respiratory tract infections in healthy subjects can be reduced by probiotic interventions; thus, probiotics may be a low-risk, low-cost, and easily implementable modality to reduce risk of COVID-19. Implementation of a Multidisciplinary Nutritional Support Team and Clinical Outcomes in Critically Ill Patients with COVID-19
The South Korean government established the multidisciplinary nutritional support teams (NST) system for enhancing the evaluation and adequate supply of nutritional support to patients at high risk of malnutrition. However, the impact of the NST on clinical outcomes in critically ill patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate whether NST implementation affects survival outcomes in patients with COVID-19 requiring intensive care unit (ICU) admission. (Source: Clinical Nutrition)

Association between ICW/TBW ratio and cancer prognosis: Subanalysis of a population-based retrospective multicenter study
Disease burden is known to alter cellular integrity and water balance. Therefore, the intracellular water/total body water (ICW/TBW) ratio is used as an adjunctive indicator to predict disease severity and prognosis. The ICW/TBW ratio of patients with cancer, who typically present with low muscle mass, poor nutritional status, and high inflammatory response, reportedly differs from that of the healthy population. Herein, we aimed to evaluate the effect of the ICW/TBW ratio on the prognosis of different subgroups of patients with cancer. (Source: Clinical Nutrition)

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors: a key link between lipid metabolism and cancer progression
Lipids represent the essential components of membranes, serve as fuels for high-energy processes, and play crucial roles in signaling and cellular function. One of the key hallmarks of cancer is the reprogramming of metabolic pathways, especially abnormal lipid metabolism. Alterations in lipid uptake, lipid desaturation, de novo lipogenesis, lipid droplets, and fatty acid oxidation in cancer cells all contribute to cell survival in a changing microenvironment by regulating feedforward oncogenic signals, key oncogenic functions, oxidative and other stresses, immune responses, or intercellular communication. Chemosensory Function and Food Perception is affected in COPD, but unrelated to sarcopenia risk
This study aimed to assess differences in chemosensory function and hedonic evaluation of food between patients with COPD and age- and gender-matched healthy controls. Additionally, a possible association between increased risk of sarcopenia or frailty and chemosensory impairments was explored. (Source: Clinical Nutrition)
