Association of Bioimpedance Parameters with Increases in Blood Pressure during Hemodialysis
CONCLUSIONS: Shorter vector length, a bioimpedance-derived proxy of hypervolemia, was independently associated with higher post-HD systolic BP and risk of intra-dialytic hypertension.PMID:37971865 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000356 (Source: Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology : CJASN)

Association of Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate and Albuminuria with Venous Thromboembolism
CONCLUSIONS: Both eGFR and UACR were independently associated with higher risk of venous thromboembolism after hospitalization. The incidence rate was higher with greater severity of CKD.PMID:37971889 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000352 (Source: Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology : CJASN)

Differential in Kidney Graft Years Based on Solitary Kidney, Simultaneous Liver-Kidney, and Kidney after Liver Transplants
CONCLUSIONS: Over a five-year period in the US, simultaneous liver-kidney transplantation was associated with significantly lower kidney graft survival compared to paired kidney-alone transplants. Most differences in graft survival between simultaneous liver-kidney and kidney-alone transplants occurred within the first-year post-transplantation. In contrast, kidney-after-liver transplants had comparable graft survival to paired kidney-alone transplants.PMID:37962880 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000353 (Source: Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology : CJASN)

Symptom Trajectories in the Electronic Health Record during the Transition to Maintenance Dialysis
Clin J Am Soc Nephrol. 2023 Nov 14. doi: 10.2215/CJN.0000000000000371. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHow symptoms recorded in the electronic health record (EHR) change during the transition to dialysis has not been fully explored. We used the Optum® de-identified Integrated Claims-Clinical Dataset to identify individuals with CKD stages 4 or 5 who transitioned to dialysis. We searched structured data elements from clinical notes, identified by natural language processing, for symptoms recorded across weekly intervals in the 6 months before and after dialysis initiation and estimated changes in the odds of a symptom being ...

Trends and Specific Causes of Cardiovascular Mortality after Kidney Transplantation in Finland
CONCLUSIONS: cardiovascular disease remained the most common cause of death in kidney transplant recipients, but adjusted cardiovascular mortality risk has decreased significantly during the last three decades. Coronary artery disease was the most frequent cause of cardiovascular death and the proportion of coronary artery disease related cardiovascular deaths increased after the first year after transplantation.PMID:37962909 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000360 (Source: Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology : CJASN)
