Telehealth Cognitive Behavior Therapy to Reduce Anxiety in People Living with Cognitive Impairment: A Randomized Feasibility Pilot Study
CONCLUSIONS: The Tele-CBT program was acceptable to use via videoconferencing. Reduced anxiety symptoms were observed in both groups at post-. An RCT with a larger sample is required to determine the efficacy and implementation of the intervention.CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: This study indicates the feasibility of videoconference CBT to address anxiety experienced by people living with cognitive impairment with minimal assistance from support persons.PMID:38551852 | DOI:10.1080/07317115.2024.2336187 (Source: Clinical Gerontologist)

Association of Depression, Comorbidities, and Sociodemographic Factors among Home Healthcare Recipients
CONCLUSIONS: These results underscore the need for integrated mental health care in home health. Further, the financial burden of HHC, which may have an additional impact on stress, emphasizes the need for expanded accessibility of these services.CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: General practitioners and home health professionals should inquire about mental health concerns of these care recipients, and treat or refer accordingly.PMID:38539281 | DOI:10.1080/07317115.2024.2335472 (Source: Clinical Gerontologist)

Capacity Assessment Instrument - Health: Pilot Study of a New Tool for Adults with Dementia
CONCLUSIONS: The extensive application of CAI-Health compromises its clinical usefulness and viability. To reduce its length while maintaining a thorough assessment of each ability, it was decided to eliminate two vignettes and retain all interview items. The final version of the CAI-Health comprises a clinical vignette and a capacity interview.CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: CAI-Health was designed for the assessment of medical decision-making capacity in older adults.PMID:38509684 | DOI:10.1080/07317115.2024.2331171 (Source: Clinical Gerontologist)

Stability and Change in Mental Health Profiles from Middle Adulthood to Very Old Age
CONCLUSIONS: Identifying MH profiles in old age enhances our understanding of how MH adapts with aging. This approach reveals the complexity of MH beyond traditional ill-being, underscoring the importance of well-being.CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: • The majority of older adults maintain good MH, suggesting a need for a paradigm shift toward enhancing well-being rather than solely treating ill-being.• Effective MH interventions should integrate both well-being and ill-being assessments to offer understanding and support.PMID:38477335 | DOI:10.1080/07317115.2024.2329150 (Source: Clinical Gerontologist)
