Associations between diabetes and cancer: A 10-year national population-based retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Screening activities should be revised and the guidelines on diabetes should be complemented with recommendations on cancer prevention also considering that the cancer incidence is highest around the time of the diagnosis of diabetes. For prostate cancer, our results contradict many previous studies, and further research is recommended to clarify this.PMID:38604444 | DOI:10.1016/j.diabres.2024.111665 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Anti-aquaporin-4 immunoglobulin G/anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein immunoglobulin G double-positive paraneoplastic neurological syndrome in a patient with triple-negative breast cancer
We report a rare case of paraneoplastic neurological syndrome with dual seropositivity of anti-aquaporin-4 and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibodies in a 40 year-old woman with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer. She received multiple lines of anti-neoplastic treatment, including immunotherapy with pembrolizumab, as well as cytotoxic chemotherapy. Paraneoplastic meningoencephalomyelitis developed 2 years after diagnosis of breast cancer and 1 year after discontinuation of immunotherapy with pembrolizumab. She first developed longitudinally extending transverse myelitis followed by left optic neuritis and men...

Association of imaging and pathological findings of breast cancer in very young women: Report of a twenty-year retrospective study
CONCLUSION: Our study shows the most common subtype to be Luminal A cancer, with 74 % of the tumors being larger than 2 cm at the time of diagnosis. Irregular masses with non-circumscribed margins were the most common imaging findings.PMID:38599926 | DOI:10.1016/j.clinimag.2024.110094 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Quantifying radiation-induced breast fibrosis by shear-wave elastography in patients with breast cancer: A 12-months-follow-up data of a prospective study
CONCLUSION: We demonstrated that SWE enables the evaluation of tissue stiffness to provide quantified information for the RIF of breast cancer. Further studies with long-term follow-up should provide more quantitative data.PMID:38590328 | PMC:PMC10999491 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctro.2024.100773 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Improving resource utilization: Axillary lymph node core biopsy triaging for lymphoma
CONCLUSIONS: Our enterprise overused hematopathology resources in the evaluation of AxLNCB performed in the study period. Our process could improve from the application of a simple tool generated from this cohort to predict percent risk of the specimen containing hematologic malignancy using patient characteristics easily found via routine chart review.PMID:38591770 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqae032 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Can neoadjuvant systemic therapy provide additional benefits for T1 HER2+ breast cancer patients: a subgroup analysis based on different high-risk signatures
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that NAST does not provide additional benefit to patients with T1 HER2+ breast cancer, even in the presence of lymph node metastasis, T1c, or hormone receptor negativity. This study facilitates the implementation of individualized management strategies.PMID:38592638 | DOI:10.1007/s12094-024-03472-x (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

A phenotypic screening approach to target p60AmotL2-expressing invasive cancer cells
CONCLUSIONS: BET inhibitors specifically target p60AmotL2-expressing invasive cancer cells, likely by exploiting differences in chromatin accessibility, leading to cell death. Additionally, our findings support the use of this phenotypic strategy to discover novel compounds that can exploit vulnerabilities and specifically target invasive cancer cells.PMID:38594748 | PMC:PMC11003180 | DOI:10.1186/s13046-024-03031-w (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Postmastectomy radiation therapy in breast cancer patients with micrometastatic disease in sentinel node dissection: A cohort study and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: PMRT does not seem to impact survival in patients with T1 or T2 breast cancer with micrometastatic disease in SLND. Considering the low level of evidence and the relatively short follow-up of included studies, caution in interpreting the results into clinical practice is suggested.PMID:38586080 | PMC:PMC10998037 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctro.2024.100770 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)
