Optimal timing of prophylactic pegylated G-CSF after chemotherapy administration for patients with cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis from Clinical Practice Guidelines for the use of G-CSF 2022
CONCLUSIONS: Both Day 2 and Days 3-5 were weakly recommended for pegylated G-CSF administration post-chemotherapy in patients with cancer. The limited evidence highlights the need for further research to refine recommendations.PMID:38526621 | DOI:10.1007/s10147-024-02499-y (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Emerging measurements for tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in breast cancer
Jpn J Clin Oncol. 2024 Mar 23:hyae033. doi: 10.1093/jjco/hyae033. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTumor-infiltrating lymphocytes are a general term for lymphocytes or immune cells infiltrating the tumor microenvironment. Numerous studies have demonstrated tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes to be robust prognostic and predictive biomarkers in breast cancer. Recently, immune checkpoint inhibitors, which directly target tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, have become part of standard of care treatment for triple-negative breast cancer. Surprisingly, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes quantified by conventional methods do not predict respon...

Skin marker combined with surface-guided auto-positioning for breast DIBH radiotherapy daily initial patient setup: An optimal schedule for both accuracy and efficiency
CONCLUSION: SGRT one-key calibration was found to be more suitable when followed by skin marker/tattoo and in-room laser positioning, establishing it as an optimal daily initial set-up protocol for breast DIBH radiotherapy. This modality also proved to be suitable for free-breathing breast cancer radiotherapy, and its widespread clinical use is recommended.PMID:38522035 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14319 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Through Clinicians Eyes: Use of an In-consultation Patient Decision Aid in Radiation Treatment for Early Breast Cancer. A Qualitative Study
CONCLUSION: Using an in-consultation Decision Helper has the potential for individualized, structured patient engagement in decision making. There is a need for patient decision aids in clinical guidelines to ensure patient engagement in decision making.PMID:38523041 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2024.02.009 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Elderly patients with hormone receptor-positive HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer treated with CDK4/6 inhibitors in a multicentre cohort
CONCLUSIONS: Our RWD suggests that elderly patients, when compared to those under 70, experience similar survival outcomes and exhibit comparable tolerance for CDK4/6i therapy.PMID:38519708 | DOI:10.1007/s12094-024-03399-3 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)

Effectiveness and safety of primary prophylaxis of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor during dose-dense chemotherapy for urothelial cancer: Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Use of G-CSF 2022
Int J Clin Oncol. 2024 Mar 22. doi: 10.1007/s10147-024-02491-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGranulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) decreases the incidence, duration, and severity of febrile neutropenia (FN); however, dose reduction or withdrawal is often preferred in the management of adverse events in the treatment of urothelial cancer. It is also important to maintain therapeutic intensity in order to control disease progression and thereby relieve symptoms, such as hematuria, infection, bleeding, and pain, as well as to prolong the survival. In this clinical question, we compared treatment with primary prophyla...

How Long Does Contouring Really Take? Results of the Royal College of Radiologists Contouring Surveys
CONCLUSION: Contouring for radical radiotherapy is complex and time-consuming, and despite increasing involvement of non-medical professionals, clinical oncology consultants remain the primary practitioners. Peer review practice is variable and time is often a limiting factor. Many factors influence the time required for contouring, and departments should take these factors and the need for peer-review into account when developing job plans.PMID:38519383 | DOI:10.1016/j.clon.2024.03.005 (Source: Clinical Genitourinary Cancer)
